2010 Dodge Ram 1/2 ton. First, I'm new to the forum and I apologize if this topic has been beaten like a dead horse already; I've searched and can't find my problem. As the weather changes to winter in MN, I just noticed that my defrost vents don't blow air. My dash and floor vents work fine when selected. When I turn the knob to defrost/floor, air just blows from the dash and floor. When I turn the knob to full defrost, air just blows from the dash. I don't hear any loud knocking when the truck is first started as described in other posts. I can get the air to blow from the defrost vents if I turn the fan to full blast while my selector knob is on dash and then quickly turn the knob to defrost. I do hear, and have heard for some time some subtle knocking / noises when I turn my truck off; I'm not sure if this noise is related to my problem or not. Any thoughts??

Blend door stuck? If so, I believe you have to remove a great deal of the dash to replace the motor. At least in an 03. Just a guess though.

Visited an out-of-town dealership yesterday while on vacation and they guessed it was a (I think they said) head module? Basically the computer part that controls everything when the dash switches are actuated. If it is that, the repair bill isn't too nuts...around $300. I plan on getting a second opinion from a local dealership if no one hear has any more words of wisdom.

Just visited my local dealership where the truck was purchased. They gave the problem a quick once-over and think it is stuck / broken mode doors. They said they would have to do some more internal diagnostics to determine if that is what the problem is. The fix estimate was around $1600. The service manager said that if it was his truck, he would just be happy it still had heat and wouldn't fix the problem. Unfortunately it is a little tough to drive without defrosters in MN in the winter!!
