First official mod to my truck. I've been eying these for a while but they don't make one for the Charger or my wife's GMC Envoy. This is the Console Vault: Auto Vault, Gun Safe, Laptop Safe, Hand Gun Safe, Gun Vault, Portable Safe, Safe Manufacturer - Console Vault™

I'm a gun guy, :shooter: and routinely CCW but in Ohio there are off limits places. I always hated leaving my piece in a locked glove box because they're easily defeated. For those who aren't, you can lock up what ever you want. They have a keyed option as well, but I went with the combo lock.

Install was sailor proof (you .mil guys will get that). 4 self taping screws, set the combo and roll out. Fit is great, the only thing I would change is the thin felt in the bottom. I might put some thicker foam in it.

Some pics fresh out of the box.

The install, here's looking down at the console in the 2011 Ram Crew Cab:

Drop in the box and secure the 4 screws. NOTE, do not remove the 4 T-15 screws that hold the liner of the console in.

90 seconds later, it's beer thirty...

There is no rubbing on the bottom of the top half of the console, and she's in there tight. For those who are .mil or LEO's call Console Vault and he won't charge ya shipping. Spoke to the guy for a few min on the phone, (can't remember his name) but he's from the Cleveland area now living and running this business out of Las Vegas.

Yeah those are sweet, I really like the one for the 3rd gens where it is for under the middle seat- like the "bottom" center console if you'll call it that.

Yeah, if I had the bench seat that would be the way to go.

Man that is sweet. I want one. I would have to find a new place to store the headphones for the kids tv in the back.

That looks pretty good! I keep my superchips and GPS in my bottom console, it would be nice to have those locked up as well as my gun...

Yeah, it's great for those things you don't want to risk. I pods, other electronics, if you're carrying a lot of cash for something etc.

I just got one for xmas, I love it! It was super easy to install, literally took less than 5 minutes to fully install. Mine came with self tapping bolts instead of screws, which made it super easy because the safe itself had welded in nutplates. So I didn't have to struggle to get self tapping screws in, just simply wrenched the bolts in. Fit and finish is great, and materials seem to be really solid. I like that the door is spring loaded so it pops up when you open it.

This is a compact 1911, to give a size reference.

I have that too. I would suggest some gun case foam for the bottom. It works really well.

would it still be legal (in some states) to carry the firearm in that lock box?
in SC, i thought, you could carry a weapon in the glove box.
but is the center console, with that box, still considered a legal place to store a weapon?

please feel free to discuss.
im just asking because years ago, i got in trouble for carrying a unloaded weapon in my center console....
