no clue the owners manual cd sucks and can't really find any info about it

I agree think it on a weight switch. Most newer vehicles are that way now.

I take it this is for adding the kids seat to the front? rear facing ones should not be used in the front seat no matter if the bag is turned off.
Also I could not find anything on the dodge builder site either. but the airbag module is in the middle of the seats on the tunnell
