Got in my truck after remote starting it today after work. I noticed the stereo screen was black....nothing at all. Yet Howard Stern was playing loud and clear. Shut it off while in the bank. Came out, restarted the truck and all was back to normal. Anyone here ever had this happen, or have a possible cause? Thanks in advance for your replies.

I had this happen once. Not sure why. Maybe there is a software update.
Yeah, possibly..... im going to call my dealership tomorrow and speak to a tech. He will let me know if there is or not.

This maybe also the wireless control module. I read this causes other issues like cranking over but not starting, which I also have happen. I need to get mine in sometime soon. Love my truck though.

Maybe it is the 'screen off' button that needs to be pushed to turn the screen back on?

Thats the first thing i thought too. But when the screen is off when the radio is working correctly, the words "touch screen to turn on" are at the bottom of the screen. In my instance, the screen was completely black, yet the radio was working. Touching the screen did absolutely nothing, but the tune *** did change the stations. It really was weird.

Hi BrianandChrissy,

When you remote start your vehicle the radio is off but as soon as the door is opened it will turn on and the sound will start playing. The radio’s screen takes several seconds to boot up but the sound will be heard during this. What you are experiencing is normal operation as long as the screen comes on once you start your vehicle!

Andrea,

I cannot speak for BrianandChrissy, but mine worked perfectly fine. Except you couldn't see the screen. the radio played, but the touch screen was black. Nothing changed it. We checked to see if the screen was off, but nothing happened. When I turned mine back on, it worked fine. That day was extremely cold. Never experienced this with my 2014 RAM. Mine is a push button start & did start the truck with the remote. I need to contact our dealer to have that checked out as well as my truck cranking over, but not starting sometimes. Normally it happens if I take the truck to the store, then come out 15 minutes later.
