Has anyone here thought about putting a carven muffler on their 6.4? I like how they sound on the 1500's so I can only imagine how they would sound on a 6.4. I'm between carven, mufflex, and flowmaster super 40. I'm not a fan of the sound of MagnaFlow at all. I'm really itching to have this thing sound awesome soon!

I've often wondered that myself.

Couldn't you get a generic muffler and take it to a local shop to have it welded in or do they only offer the full systems?

Well my plan was to just do it myself, and I'm not persay looking for a whole system, but I would like a muffler with 3.5 inlet and outlet, like the flowmaster super 40, I just haven't seen any others with those options

Very few companies make 3.5" inlet/outlet mufflers. Very frustrating.

Do you think I would notice a difference going from 3.5-3.0 for the inlet and back to 3.5 for the outlet?

No, but I don't see any companies making a 3" in/3.5" out muffler. So unless I'm misunderstanding something, you'd have to have an adapter on both ends.

That's what I meant, I'd just be using adapters and fitting it to the stock exhaust and cutting the resonator off

Using the adapters won't hurt it at all as long as the muffler flows better than the stock one and that's pretty much a given with an aftermarket unit.

Does everyone here believe the carven R muffler would be a good match for my truck?

There are a few people that have used a flow master american thunder system and say it sounds great. I am leaning that way myself

My friend has that system on his 1500, I like it but I'm looking for something more aggressive

Okay so I'm decided on the carven R muffler, now the next question is, I'm planning on taking it to a local shop (I work for the dealer so we don't do custom exhaust work) and I would have them do dual 45 after the rear tires, now my question is, am I going to notice a big difference if I don't run resonators? What would the difference be?

It will be louder and when the truck hits MDS you will probably get some drone at around 1800 RPM or so.

I turned off MDS and have no reso on my single Magnaflow. I get a small amount of drone at that RPM when cruising down the freeway.
