Man I wish I had 3:92s, but this 8sp really makes a differences on how the thing runs.
At my 2500 mile first oil change the dealer suggested I rotate my tires because the rears had noticeably less tread then the fronts... lol

Yeah my mds is always off.

I'm sending my boys to come get your man card, that sucker is revoked. it doesn't have to be permanent, but you will have to do some dirty nasty **** to get it back.

Haha! I missed this comment at first, just saw the one saying that you were just messing with me, I was confused.

My man card still has a few punches left on it before it can be taken away.

Is anyone running 7 Qts of PUP 0/40 In their 5.7? No extra additives just straight oil.

Good question, That weight is fine for the 6.4 not sure why it would not be for a hard working 5.7 as well.

I think SYN did it for a while. No issues.

And IMO,

Hard working or not. 0w40 would be fine in a 5.7. Most shear down to mid 30w anyway

Had my tick stayed away on PUP, I was going to run 7qts of PUP 0w40. With 6qts PUP 0w40 and 1qt PUP 5w30 my truck ran fine. No MDS or other issues

By most accounts PUP 0/40 has all the good stuff we need in a hemi but not the recommended oil for the 5.7, just don't make sense. Is it strictly the cafe standards, or just that Pennzoil don't want to produce that much 0/40?.

Did you get a tic with you're mixture?

PUP visc at 100 13.7 for 0w40.

Redline visc at 100 11.9 for 5w30.

Redline visc at 100 15.4 for 0w40.

Mobil 1 5w30 11.0 visc at 100, Mobil one 12 visc at 100 for 0w40.

PUP 0w40 is less then 2 points off redline 5w30, it is a small jump and likey will be as usable as 5w30. In comparison to redline 0w40 that is over 15 visc at 100.

I wouldn't call it a loud tick but it was steadily getting louder as time went on. It was instantly quiet when I put Redline 5w30 in

I was just wandering with all these guys worrying about their warranty with redline, how good the " chosen one" actually was. I know the book doesn't say you have to run Pennzoil, they just recommend it.

You realize " chosen one" was in reference to PUP, right?

Oh I knew what you were saying, but they can deny warranty for using 0w40 PUP in a hemi 5.7. If guys are that worried, do a short run any oil that satisfies warranty, drain and keep it. Then run the best oil for the truck, and if the engine stops running, swap oils.

I think 0w40 PUP is a really good choice for the 5.7.
