What is the price they are asking for with no trade?

A 2500 is a bit light to be pulling a 16K trailer, whether it be a tow behind or 5'vr. You're looking at a truck with the following specs:

Empty vehicle weight 6917 pounds
Fuel, gear, passengers 1500
Vehicle total weight 8417 pounds
Gross vehicle weight rating = 9000 pounds

Payload - hitch or pin weight - 15% of trailer weight = 2400

Rated payload = 2083 pounds

Your vehicles total weight with trailer attached = 10,817 pounds
Loaded trailer weight 16000 pounds

Gross combined vehicle weight = 26,817 pounds.

The Cummins powered 2500 Gross Combined Vehicle Weight Rating = 20,000

So, no I would not try towing a 16K pound trailer with a 2006 Cummins powered 2500

They wanted 27k. Thanks for the help I'll probably look for 3500 single wheels then.

Was 27k too high a price or is that pretty much in the ballpark everything I've found on auto trader were pretty similar in pricing but I'm no diesel expert. Thanks for all the help I think your pretty much the only one who replies to my posts.

Seems pretty average for used diesels this day. Kind of outrageous since you can find new basic ones under $40K.

Then there's this guy...

Don't see why anyone would pay that when you could get one with zero miles... not too mention a warranty.

Yeah that's crazy I would just get a new one for that price. All the emission junk scare me about the new ones diesels are already more expensive to work on then you add extra expense on top of that for when emission controls start acting up. I'm not a diesel expert so if I'm wrong let me know I need all the info I can get before I buy one so I can buy the best one for me.

Diesels these days go for obscene money because they're the new "cool" thing to have for all the kids in high school which has driven the prices through the roof. Which is frustrating as hell because I have a legitimate reason to have one but I can't afford one because of all the kids driving the prices up.

Is an 11 year old slt short bed 2500 with almost 130k miles worth 27,000 dollars? Absolutely not, but unfortunately that is the kind of money they are going for. What's funny is you can get 3500 duallies for thousands less than 3500 SRW trucks. Why? Because the young kids don't want duallies because they're harder to bro out.

Rant over lol

Very true...

You can pay a few grand and delete the emissions crap on a new one, but there goes warranty. At least it's still new lol.
Try and find an 06/07 5.9. I've heard good things about those years with the 5.9. Later 07 is when the 6.7 came out.

Usaf2006 it sounds like you like the newer ones more if I deleted emissions stuff would the newer motor be more reliable or are the older models more reliable.
