So any way, my summit cutouts arrived the other day and one of the openings on iit was bent to the point were i was afraid id screw it up even more if i tried to open it. i called summit and they said to send it back and id get a new one free of charge. Well me being the dum ass that i am,(never looked to see were i could fit 2) i dont have the room to put 2. The tranny and the torsion bar is in the way, as i wanna mount them laying flat so they dont hang lower then the frame rail. I guess the guy on the you tube video removed his cats wich would give me the room, but i have emission laws here......FML so I called summit back they said to mail every thing back they would send me a single 3 in w/ the QTP cutout. Not as loud but at least i can mount it the way i want. To top it all off, after i ran the cutout idea by my buddy and he ordered 2 ebay specials "badlands" i think deff not quality made but he got them in yesterday and it took us bolth about 4 hours to put them on his v6 2010 camaro. the wiring was horrible and one motor would not work but we un ****** that situation and now bolth work. Its deff loud but open exhaust on a v6, well lest just say its not a hemi.

SO........good news i got to hear cutouts in person, bad news i gotta wait longer for mine and im not sure if one will be the loud im lookin for.

i can post pics if any one wants em.....................Rant over

I have a single right after my y and before the rest of my exhaust starts. The main issue you might have is the smell of exhaust fumes and have to run them closed alot, just depends where you have it exit. Mine is right before the cab ends and its plenty loud.

im not sure if the brand will make a difference on sound. opening your exhaust is opening your exhaust.

i Diddnt think the brand would have made the diff, I realy diddnt care who made the pipe. Tubeing ins tubing. My concern was the motor, Ive heard of QTP And it had decent reviews. The motors he got looked like some one wrote the name on a piece of masking tape w/ crayon. And another thing i was thinking of doing was put a turn down tip on it to try to keep dirt and **** out? Worth it?

I'll get a pic of mine when I get off work, the turn down just angles the exhaust away out of truck/ down at the ground so its not blowing hot gasses everywhere. The raceland I put on sounds decent but not the same as my DMH did (had a different muffler in there with the DMH).

You could have ran the pipes in a dual setup and just before the muffler put them in. Or fabbed them after the cats and on the Y, its just fabricating everything to make them work. I did not go with a dual cutout becuase there is no gains from having two, its just sound at that point unless you start adding a lot more power adders.

Putting one cutout after the y pipe is pretty loud. That's how it is on my truck and I wont leave it open on the freeway its so loud.

You must have a really quite exhaust setup to start with cause mine is just a few DB louder than my muffler is, it pretty much stays open all the time

Yea my exhaust is stock other than the cut out. So its really quiet with it closed. If its only a little louder with it open then why do you even have a cut out?

If your exhaust is pretty loud right now why not just save up for some headers. Then it would be really loud plus give you some extra hp.

Easy way to see if it will be louder is just bolt it at the y and turn it on. It wont be as crisp as the cut out but will give the the idea of what its gonna be close to.

It gives it just enough of a more aggressive growl over the xr-1 that it'll set of car alarms with it open. It was one of the reasons I took it off when I did my headers cause I couldn't tell a difference, but its just a change of tone and like .02 quicker 0-60 with it opened.

I got a little more done to mine than what you have done. It pretty much breaks even with it open vs closed, I know of quite a few guys that close them while at the track cause they run quicker with them closed than open but mine is so close in time between the two it doesn't really matter as of now.
