A-Pillar Light Mounts

Regardless... I should, but I don't usually take the time to post reviews, but I am Really impressed with these SDHQ light mounts.

I didn't need to interact with them live, so no information on customer service. Ordering was easy and the parts arrived on time.

These mounts are SOLID, 3/16 powder coated steel. Much sturdier than I imagined they would be. I am also impressed with their design and perfect fit. They slotted the hood mount locations instead of taking the easy route and just drilling holes. This allows installation without completely removing the hood nuts from the studs. (Mounting one side at a time obviously keeps the hood intact, but I sure felt better having those nuts partially threaded during the installation!) Another quality surprise was the "bumpers", two rubber spacers that protect the hood where it meets the mount. I did have a little sticker shock when ordering them ($189.95/pair) but I am completely over that now. GREAT product!!!

Same ones I used, they are fantastic. I also used their extension brackets to mount a pair of ditch lights on each side.

EDIT: Actually looking at your mounts now I used a different version that hard mounts at the cowl and doesn't pivot up with the hood.

Yes Sir. This style of A Pillar / Ditch Light mounting is very solid. This as opposed to the single bolt mounts that attach to the fender bolt.

I bought very similar Morimoto brackets (from the OPs description = made to similar specs) from American Trucks for $80. These are stiff, but do minimally flex with stress of all the crap I mounted on them and wind drag. The built in rubber bumpers are very much needed to keep them from banging into the metal/paint. If you buy a set of these, get the type that has these rubber bumpers.



Extremely easy install. Just make sure you put whiteness marks on your hood hinges BEFORE you crack the nuts.



I needed a little more tightening and lateral torque "umph" for all the crap I'm loading onto these brackets. Having it bolt solidly onto the hood hinge provides a better platform than some of the other designs. I most certainly would not want to mount what I have clamped directly to the back lip of the hood.

Two pods per side. They are wired left and right so I can spot one side or both sides independently. Note: I have my LED pods to actually spot into the ditch and 90 degrees to each side.

CB antenna passenger side and soon to be a GMRS antenna on the driver side.


Below is a layout of the dual light extenders and CB mount extender I used. I had to drill an additional hole in the light extenders to get the right spacing for the lights to not bang the windscreen when the hood is opened. After this picture was taken, I resprayed them with Rust-o-leum flat enamel.



Edit add. Just mounted my GMRS/UHF antenna mount/bracket extender and coax lead on the Driver's Ditch Light bracket.
Now I have to finish running the coax and other wiring for final connection.

I like the CB mount extension. I was recently considering locations for an antenna. I will give that a close look.

Good call on the whiteness marks. I missed the "mark" on that one. I lined everything up with the imprints left by the bolts from the factory and got lucky.

I like that setup and the bracket looks sturdy. I was looking at the led lights at 4Wheelonline for the next mod. We'll check that kit.
