I have been tossing around the idea of getting my truck lifted for a while now. Right now I just kind of want to get some ideas, so I started talking to a local shop about what they charge and the guy told me $2,780 for a 4" CST suspension lift. Does that sound about right? Also, he is telling me that they can't do it unless I get new wheels and tires, which I'm guessing is a gimmick for more money? Wouldn't the stock 20's fit with the lift, even if it required spacers? I don't know a whole lot about this, so I guess I'm mostly wondering what other people have paid to get their 2wd's lifted from 4" to 7", and what was included in the work. I plan on checking with a few more shops in my area, he is just the only one who has responded so far. Thanks for any replies!

I purchased the Maxtrac 4.5" lift spindles and the 1.5" rear lift block. I then purchased different shocks, I wanted FOX so that's why I went different route. My transmission (**** he does everything for me) mechanic has someone who works for him that use to do lifts all the time so he had him install it all for me, BUT since I know him and do a lot of business I only paid $300 for install.

I run 20" rims with 35's and have ZERO issue..

I think shop trying get more money for tires and rims from you. You will want to change tires I'd say because it'll look funny, looking at CST site it says you can fit up to a 33" tire.

SUGGESTED WHEEL & TIRE SIZES

02-2008 RAM 1500
32” x11.5” ON AN 8” WIDE WHEEL
33” x12.5” OR SIMILAR ON AN 8” WIDE WHEEL (MINOR TRIMMING REQUIRED)
09-2016 RAM 1500
285 / 70 /17 ON AN 8 OR 9” WIDE WHEEL
315 / 70 / 17 ON AN 8” WIDE WHEEL (MINOR TRIMMING REQUIRED)
33” X12.5” ON A 9” WIDE WHEEL (MINOR TRIMMING REQUIRED)
ANYTHING LARGER, TALLER OR WIDER IS BEYOND CST RECOMMENDATIONS AND UP TO THE INSTALLER.
MAXIMUM BACKSPACINGNG IS 4.75"

A cst lift or a maxtrac lift of 4 or 4.5" will absolutely let you run your stock wheels. It will allow down to a 17" wheels to fit back on. Yes it will look a little funny but wheels and tires are not required to drive the truck out with the lift on. I have a 7" lift and 17 x 10" wheels with 35x12.50 R17 general grabbers. Here is a pic of the lift installed with my stock 20" wheels and tires on. Then pics of the new wheels and tires.

I saw your post in another thread and started looking at Maxtrac. I didn't see prices on their site, but I imagine they aren't $2000? It's kind of hard to find images on the internet of a truck like mine with a lift and stock tires, most everyone has 35's which makes sense. Honestly though, looking at your truck Derekp with the 7" lift and stock size tires I like the way that looks. Your truck also looks really good with the General tires, it's just a badass truck all around. I'll eventually get new tires but the ones I have are pretty much new themselves. I'm really just poking around to see price ranges and what other people have gotten done to their trucks. There are a few more places in my area that deal in Maxtrac and suspension work. Hopefully I'll get some more responses. Thanks guys for your feedback!

I wish I took a pic of mine right when I picked it up from the lift install, I had the stock 20's with normal plan Jane tires on it...drove it like that for a couple days till I put my 35's on. Nothing wrong with riding like that, I just didn't like the big gap.

I'm in Denton right now for school.

Oh okay. Well maxtrac only deals through shops and no, it wouldn't be $2000 for their lift. I live here in San Marcos just south of Austin and my buddy opened a truck outfitter shop in New braunfels just south of san marcos. Its called Blue Collar Ttuck Outfitters. If you are ever this way stop by there and I'll make sure he hooks you up.

The Maxtrac would work, I think they sell the kits on their site. Or, check out their dealer finder.
You can run 35's on the factory wheels.

I can shed some light on the requirement the shop said on the CST spindles since I have them they don't have spacers built in like the Maxtrac set does so they require more back spacing I have them with stock 17 required a 1.5in spacer to fit. But I have new wheels that doesn't require it now
