I'd go with 33s to be safe. You could probly get away with 35s but wouldn't be able to turn without scraping BAD.

If you are buying them used. Try one on the front wheel and turn the wheel full lock see what happens.

Look in the thread 2" level and 35's a couple lines down from this one at Justin's maroon ram and his description

Personally i wouldn't put 12.5s on anything wider than a 9" rim. 35/12.5s with 4.5" backspacing or less should fit on a level. If you're 4wd. 2wd needs at least 3" lift up front I'm pretty sure.

Just curious on your reasoning for not going wider that a 9" wheel for a 12.5" wide tire? Is it just personal preference based on aesthetics?

First personal preference, but I've seen 12.5" tires pop of the bead while wheeling. I'm sure there's no wrong in running them, and what I saw may have been sure to low air pressure, but I've never seen a 12.5 on a 9" rim or less pop off. I'm sure it's happened but I go by what I've seen.
But yeah I don't like stretched tires on wide rims. I prefer tire "love handles" on skinnier rims. Lol

We all have out preferences on what we like and how we modify our vehicles, that's what is great about customizing.
