I used the herculiner stuff from autozone. Went on easy and seems really strong.

I used the Herculiner on the bottom and over the fenders.. haven done the bed yet cause I need to replace the tailgate.. The hardest part about mine was taping the curve to match the fenders.. the straight parts were easy.. Just follow the directions and double up arount the tape lines so you can pull the tape off while its still wet.. You dont want to try to pull tape off after it drys that requires a razor blade close to the paint and we all know how that could end up..

As this would be a good thread to ask on, can someone give some good pointers on prepping the area's getting herculined?

They give you a green scuff pad with the kit.. I threw it away and used 600 grit sand paper then used Xylene / Xylol to clean it both before and after sanding... The better you scuff it and clean it the better it sticks..

So 600 grit sand paper would work better than the scotchbright pad it comes with?

Lol if it works better and still lets it adhear well than sounds good to me. The 600 grit doesn't dig in too deep to the paint does it?

No not at all.. I dont think I even got down to the paint, it was just scuffing up the clearcoat.. You dont have to put much pressure on it at all to get twice the scuff as you would with the green pad.. Thats what I did and it worked great for me.. Unless Dave / Ramhunter9 has a different idea or way to do it that could be a little easier..
