So my truck has this issue where it has no power to any of its electronics unless it is turned on with the key. I started pulling apart the dash to try to find the issue, I found something strange. There is a key under the dash, held in one of the wiring clips. It has a few wires taped to it. It appears to be a Chrysler key, but it is a different colour to the ones that my truck uses and it is uncut. My truck has been known to be sketchy at the best of times but this just seems odd. My best guess is that it has something to do with the aftermarket keyfob that operates the door locks. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Sometimes when there is an aftermarket remote start installed people will get a key programmed to their truck but not get it cut and have the remote start read that key when it starts. On vehicles with a chip in the key it has to see that chip to start. Newer vehicles do it with a digital box but older ones needed a programmed key tapped into the circuit.

Yeah it's probably gonna be hilarious lol. Probably just a key hanging under there with a wire looped around it that ties into the ring around the ignition that reads the key.
