I have 2006 hemi sport 5.7. When cruising highway speeds it would shift 8 gear and rpm was a little under 1000.
I had an egr valve go bad and I replaced it myself. Now it does not shift out of 4th (from what ican feel) and I am at 1700 RPMS. Is it just coincidence about egr valve change? Can someone point me in the right direction to get my low cruise rpms back?

Thanks for any help.

No 8 speed in your truck. Most likely a 5 speed. 1000 rpm at highway speed isn't correct or at least accurate either. Probably have an issue with your tack that was so common on the 2006 models like ours.

Sent directly from my thoughts using tinfoil antennas and a stainless mixing bowl helmet.

I'm guessing 8 is a typo, also guessing it's a bad overdrive solenoid. Try playing with the OD off button on the shift lever to see if the rpms change at all. Welcome to RF.

Sorry 8 is typo. 5 speed. Everything in the transmission is smooth so it must be the tach. It does jump around at times.

Thanks for the help, I am about to put a 3 inch lift level kit in and did not want to add more variables if I was having issues.

I thinks it's a kind of common problem on 06' models to read real low rpms. I've read this kind of problem before with people showing pics of there truck at idle at like 200 rpm lol
