Need Some Transmission Help...

I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4 with a 5.9L. The transmission has gone out on it, and I need find a replacement. Do I need an exact replacement, or is there an equivalent that I can use?

Also, the fluid in the tranny smells burnt. Just had the radiator and transmission cooler switched out several months back. Does that have anything to do with my transmission burning up?

That's a cool truck, not many 3rd gens with a 360. I'd say it's a 46re behind it. Not a very good tranny unless you dump money into it. I have a mildly built one in my rt dak and it still isn't as good as the 545rfe in my ram, lt does bark the tires though when shifting.
