I'm shopping for new wires, was wondering if anyone had advice or experience with these.

What is the difference between these?

I would recommend you search for threads about hard starting when cold. They seem to break down under extreme load condition and I have no idea why. Some crate engines come with shorty's but don't know what brands are used or availabilty. If you want to get rid of the waste spark wire you can upgrade to the 6.1 dual coils. Kits are expensive and available. Or get the coils and electrical plugs from a pick and pull. You will also have to change to the newer valve covers.

I have read that a lot of people, who switched to the shorties, had problems with them in the winter, causing them to reinstall the original type plug wires.

Your truck has spark plug wires??? My 2003 is coil on plug design...

Your coil only sits over 1 spark plug. There is a wire that goes to a plug on the opposite side.

Don't waste your money on the MSD coils. The fastest trucks on these forums are still running stock coils.

If you want to upgrade get 06+ VC and coils. This will eliminate the cross over wires.

Will I need the newer valve covers to run the 06+ coils Red?

Yes, plus the newer electrical plugs. These can be from a pick and pull, repair pigtails or there is adapters that are plug and play.
