Hey guys I have a 2016 2500 tradesman that I want to put a double din radio in. Wanted to ask what all I will need for the swap other than the head unit and the dash kit?

its a very simple swap. you will have to cut a small section of steel inside the dash. when you pull the stock unit out, you will see its only a few inches deep. thats why you have to cut the small piece of metal out, to clear the depth of the new radio.
i would look for a radio that is Maestro compatible. this will allow you to keep most of your features.

Ya Crutchfield helps alot I got all my stuff from them to do my Tradesman, I like this better than the 8.4 junk I had n my last truck, I went the Idatalink route so I could get all the info and stuff through the DD

Yeah, it's super simple to do! Fit's good and isn't as ugly as some of the previous years.

What all is in that picture as far as the installation kit and supplies? I am getting ready to buy a pioneer AVH-X5800BHS double din and I have been debating between the Metra/Axxess kit or the Idatalink kit. They both say they keep your factory backup camera and aux in port.

Idatalink - it's a no brainer. Metra has been going downhill for years and can't even come in the ballpark of functionality that iDatalink brings.

The iData link is far superior. on most radios, you retain all factory options.

I'm also getting ready to purchase avhx5800bhs and trying to decide between the three harnesses, so I'm watching this thread closely. Already swapped out front door speakers to JBL, great improvement.

actually, you can retain the center usb also. you just need the uram plug. iDatalink ACC-USB-RAM USB Port Cable Allows you to connect the factory USB port and aux input on select 2013-up Ram trucks to a new car stereo at Crutchfield.com it even lights up blue to make it easier to see at night. I'm using it now, as well as the factory Sirus antenna.
