My new Pioneer radio came in yesterday along with all the wiring harnesses and XM tuner. This was supposed to be my Christmas present from my wife, but she was in an exceptionally good mood yesterday and told me to go ahead and install it since I won't have much time after Christmas! Before she had a chance to change her mind, I proceeded to the garage to tear into the truck.

There was a little a little cutting involved behind the dash to get the radio to fit, but it wasn't a big deal. (You can see the pics of what Jeremy did to install his in the how to section, this one was no different.) I used the PAC wire harness and PAC steering wheel adapter and everything went very smooth. All connections were soldered with heat shrink tubing, no crimp connectors here! I was surprised at how much room there was behind the dash and under the front of the center console. There was enough room to install the XM tuner and zip tie all the extra wires out of the way. I was also able to use the factory sirius antenna, it plugs into the back of the factory stereo, so I could get rid of my 2nd roof antenna I had previously installed for my portable XM tuner. You just have to remove the outer plastic portion to get it to fit in the Pioneer XM tuner plug. It's still a tight fit with no chance to come loose.

I am very happy with the new head unit. It sounds much better than the stock stereo and I was finally able to get rid of my dash mounted XM tuner! I had already replaced my 4 door speakers and 2 dash speakers last year with Infinity Reference 6x9s and 3.5s. It would of course sound better if those were amped, but for now it sounds more than adequate. I get a lot better bass response and clearer highs out of the new Pioneer than I did with the stocker.

I still need to wire up a bypass relay so the radio is not locked down without the parking brake engaged. My Mom actually has my new Alpine amp and sub under her tree and there's no way I'm getting that before Christmas, so I will just have to wait. :emotions133: Everything will have to be torn apart again to install that and my backup camera when it comes in.

Parts list:
Pioneer AVH-P3200DVD
Pioneer GEX-P920XM
PAC C2R-CHY4
PAC SWI-PS
Scosche CR1291
Scosche VWA3

Thanks! The install kit looks much cleaner than I thought it would. Aftermarket stereos normally don't look nearly as clean as stock.

Steering wheel buttons working like normal with the PAC SWI-PS. You can actually reprogram the buttons to whatever suits your needs. Mine are the same except my center right button is Mute instead of source change.

Very clean install! I've got a question that is a LITTLE off topic, but not far. I saw in one of your posts about Infinity 6x9's in the doors. I've had a couple of people tell me I couldn't upgrade to aftermarket 6x9's due to space restrictions. Did you have to do some custom mounting? Or was I just fed some BS?? I appreciate any help that you guys can give...
