I upgraded my uconnect system on Friday and now when I put my truck in reverse, the backup camera has a super washed out look. Like the brightness setting is way too high. Interestingly, when I first start up the truck it looks fine, wait 5 seconds, and it's washed out. Is this a setting or is it just how it's going to be?

I am having the same issue!! Although it looks like moisture has gotten behind the lens cover when you look at it. I had assumed that was the cause but now I wonder if it was the update.

I don't think that's the case with mine. It was great before the update, and now not so much.

Also noticed that speaker phone volume is really, really low.

Hmm , I have a 15 RA4 in my 14 Ram ...everything works great , I'll likely NOT be updating my software because many have had issues lately with software updates. ...?

Tracking this as well, really don't want to loose the backup camera functionally to useless washed out display due to upgrade defect, i use it too much. Please continue to post status updates on this issue.

Hi everyone,

My Uconnect contact advised me that our engineers are aware of the washed out back up camera concern and are working to provide a resolution to customers as soon as possible. Unfortunately we don't have an ETA at this time however I will post any additional information I receive on this thread. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes.

YES...my speaker volume is extremely low now! When I get text while driving the ladies voice is different and its WAY softer now you cant even hear it unless you have the radio turned up to 25+ ...Also while talking on the phone over the speakers people cant hear me nearly as good either!

This is a pain for me because I use my phone over my speakers all the time so this really sucks!

You guys ever get a resolution on the backup camera? Just updated my 2014 yesterday and the camera is super bright. Can barely see it during the day.

Same exact thing on my 2014 Sport. Updated and now it's all washed out.

Try a factory reset to fix the washed out camera and let us know...

with the radio on, hold down the temp +/- buttons (driver side if you have dual) until you see the engineering menu pop up. Then, scroll down to reset to factory and tap it, then tap yes. keep the key on while it resets. You'll see different splash screens until the radio figures out the vehicle configuration, usually takes a reboot or two.
I can confirm as well the factory reset has fixed the washed out camera. In addition, I am now on day 3 of an accurate clock and GPS on the new firmware.

Thanks for the advice. The factory reset did the trick. Back to normal!

Please add me to the list. The update occurred last evening on my '14 RAM. I notice the rear camera image is washed out now. Heven't checked anything else yet.

Hi rpasetto,

Performing a hard reset on your Uconnect system should fix your back-
up camera concern: Settings -> System Information -> Reset to Factory Default. Please be advised this will delete any saved information (phone pairings, radio presets, etc.) but this is the best process to solve your concern.

Thank you.

Update: I found two options on the "Settings" screen: "Restore Settings" and "Clear Personal Data" ... I reset them both just to be sure and the camera is back working. I'll need to re-pair my bluetooth phone as I expoected to do that anyway. (There's no "Reset to Factory Default" option on the "System Information" screen. This is Uconnect 8.4A, now at version 17.11.17)

I just had my radio updated to the new update.
My backup camera is also all washed out. I tried doing a system reset.
Camera is still washed out.
Going back to dealer tomorrow and show them so it's on file.
My truck is a 2014 Sport

Have you tried both the "Restore Settings" and "Clear Personal Data"? It might be worth your time to do that before making the trip.

I did another reset and the camera works like it did before. Not washed out.
Found another issue though. I have noticed that I have to turn the volume up to at least 10 before you can hear the radio.
Went into the audio settings, surround sound was on, started playing with the fade settings.
When I move it to the front, front left and front right I get no sound in any of those positions. Go back to centre and get some sound from the centre speaker. When moved to the rear settings, lots of sound from both sides.
I video taped it so I can show the teck, just in case it miraculously starts working again.
So back to the dealership I go.
I'll keep updated
