I did another reset and the camera works like it did before. Not washed out.
Found another issue though. I have noticed that I have to turn the volume up to at least 10 before you can hear the radio.
Went into the audio settings, surround sound was on, started playing with the fade settings.
When I move it to the front, front left and front right I get no sound in any of those positions. Go back to centre and get some sound from the centre speaker. When moved to the rear settings, lots of sound from both sides.
I video taped it so I can show the teck, just in case it miraculously starts working again.
So back to the dealership I go.
I'll keep updated

Hope they have the software on USB stick so they can try a reinstall.

Went out to my truck this morning to go back to the dealership, check my audio settings and everything was working just fine. No issues at all.
Is it possible it could of reset it self over night? Very confused and frustrated.
Called the tech and he said keep an eye on it and document any thing that's not normal.
Good thing I still have full warranty coverage.

Stupid radio.......
Even after the latest update my radio has gone back to the surround sound not working again. I turn it on and within a few seconds it shuts off again. The tech said to bring it in and he's going to call the engineers at Chrysler to see about replacing all or some of the electrical components that go with the radio system.
Just want it fixed, and he:s trying!

These incidents with mandatory OTA updates raise an interesting question? What will the FCA policy be in general on repairing an OTA update failure on out-of-warranty vehicles?

Or for those of us that successfully upgraded/installed these radios in our Rams (ie for over a year) that didn't come from the factory with them, but failed because of this update.

I did the update yesterday and now my backup cam is in the same shape. Like someone cranked the contrast up to the max. All the other screens look perfect.

I called Uconnect this morning, explained my situation then went through the motions...gave them my VIN ect. Said had never heard of this, recommended a hard reset by removing battery cables for 10 minutes.

So, I tried that with no luck. Guess I have to bring it in. :bawl:

How do the updates come about ? Do they happen automatically or do you have to do it manually ?

Hi xmenfan,

We regret to hear that the Uconnect team was unable to resolve this for you. If you need any additional assistance while you are working with your dealer, please let us know. Just send us a private message with your VIN.

Hey xmenfan.. hope this isn't redundant, but I (we) had same washed out backup cam after 17 update. This isnt a new issue ..Did they have you do the FACTORY RESET?? That fixed mine..resolution is now actually better after upgrade.

Thanks.....it shows I have an outstanding update from 8-9-17. I’m afraid to do it after reading all the complaints on here.

Does this update the Nav or what all does it do ?

Hi Nystagmus,

The software update at the link I provided will update your Uconnect system software, this can include enhancements and bug fixes. Navigation updates are provided by HERE North America and you can view more information and costs associated with them here: Chrysler Group | Home | HERE.

I own my own business so for me to see a dealer it's going to take a miracle to break out for a day or part of one.

I'm going to try to take the cables off tonight if I can and also see what dealer mode has to offer. If that doesn't work then I will have to break down and schedule some time.

Let us know how it goes. The FACTORY reset from maintenance menu does wipe all settings but worth the trouble IMHO.

I did the update over the weekend and also experienced the washed out back up camera screen on my 14 Longhorn. Thanks to this thread I was able to fix it by doing the factory reset. It's all good now!

Update:

Things have been crazy so I tried the factory reset instead of taking it to the dealer. *GASP* It worked...and like everyone has mentioned, it seems the camera is better than before. It may be my imagination but the best way I can put it into words would be....it's more camera lcd instead of security camera lcd. Colors seem richer than before.

My wife thinks it could be I don't remember what it was like before the high contrast issue so anything would look better. What does she know...she's just a girl! ;)

One thing I have noticed it that it's tad slower, this new update. Screen changes seem to take more time especially after startup. But everything works great, a big thank you to everyone in this thread for posting solutions!

Happy New Year!

I’m bringing up my old thread as I tried, tonight all the steps described. No resolution to the backup camera so I am going to take her in to my local dealer to see if they can troubleshoot.

2014 Sport Ram with the washed out backup camera. I tried the factory reset to no avail. That was a couple weeks ago. Would it be worth it to try again? Kinda frustrating not being able to use it!
