2000 v10. the truck idles fine. no check engine light. when I step on the gas I hear a massive rushing sound, and there is no power from te engine. The engine acts as if either the exhaust is plugged or I am stepping on the brake while flooring the accelerator. if I idle and slowly accelerate keeping it under 2000 RPM I can slowly get up to speed but again no power and the rushing sound continues. 175000 on the truck.

Have you tried putting it into manual 1 on the transmission? Could be a combo issue. Worn out bands will cause lack of power. Rushing sounds could be loose anything before the throttle body, i'd give it a good check over. I dont know if the v10s have the same airhats as the 5.2 and 5.9s. However when I got my truck there was no airhat gasket, lots of rushing air and whistling from that.

Depending on the rushing, you could have a bad fan clutch, but I would check the air intake first.

Guessing OP figured out the problem. When you let everyone know what the problem ended up being it helps users who use the forum search or Google.
