Alright folks got a good one. I know wiring is going to have to be swapped but has anyone swapped a 2001 cab onto a 1997? Both have 5.9l. Already have the parts truck.

Swapping due to the 2001 has no rust damage and the 97 has rust. Also 97 isn't 4dr just ext cab, 2001 is.

Yes, your going to have to put your 97 dash, gauge cluster, and hvac system in the newer cab. the 01 ecm, and wiring harness will not work with the 97 transmission.....

The body mounts should be the same. The harnesses will need to be swapped to the 97 versions. The transmission harness is part of the engine harness, it shouldn't even be strapped to the body for stability except maybe right at the top of the transmission tunnel.

Also, you will probably need to keep the hood springs from the 2001 cab, the mounts changed between model years. Some changes occurred on the hood mount, I think a single change occurred to the body mounting side of the spring. Made getting replacements for my truck a pain.

The steering column will probably need to be swapped to the 97 version as well.
