Fairly new to this truck reading all I can and hope to get the deletes done soon since there are no emissions control in AK anymore anyway after coming home from work I got under the truck to just take a look and noticed what appeared to be fresh oil on the front of tranny and around what appears to be a drain plug any advice appreciated

Have you checked to make sure the plug is tightened down?

I checked by hand it was tight I did just buy it and they did an oil change also the main reason I got under there was because it smelled really hot like something was overheating I dont know if egt being too high would cause this as I haven't done deletes yet. it smelled like it was the tranny but it wasnt even that hot to the touch

they might have spilled some fluid on the exhaust, diesel exhaust gets very hot, it will most certainly burn off. if it's on the front of the trans, check the rear main. You may want to look into a fumoto oil drain valve. Makes oil changes in these truck about as clean as it gets.
