Filter direction is important for some filter types that don't have an edge all the way around them. Most have a defined edge only on two sides and open pleats on the other two. You want the airflow to expand the outside pleat against the housing. If reversed the airflow can colapse the pleat and bypass the filter. Think of an umbrella in the wind...you want it to catch the wind.

hey guys,

Looking at the pics it doesn't even appear as though there is a seal created for the filter to be effective. has somone used THIS method and can confirm that the filter in in line with air flow and sealed in? Where did the air go previous ti install and whats that white "hood" that sits right above the filter housing in the 3rd picture down in the page 1 post?

$13.65 from my dealer for the door

i did the mod.
its not closed in. the air barely flows thru the filter since it isnt closed in (hence the hood you see in the pic).

and i paid $17 for my door.

Two dealers in C.S. One 13.65. one 17.85. Anyways has anyone figured out a way to seal it up then, because I can't see how this mod helps "filter" air if the housing is opened up.

dont know what IDU means, but trust me, the air flow doesnt even go thru the filter with the setup under there.
look at the pic, it isnt even a closed system.

and the door closes off where the filter goes, not above it where the outer vent is...

The ram once hole is cut is exact same as 2010 Journey and it does not need to be air tight just pushes most of the air through the filter works great.
