I bought some new lug nuts to replace the ones I have now, since I lost my lug nut lock key and it was cheaper to buy a new set of lug nuts rather than a new key from Dodge. I bought 9/16 thread and come to find out since my truck is a 2012 that it uses the 14x1.5 mm thread. How screwed would I be if I just used these instead of getting new ones? Would it work or break soon? I know it is only like a .2 on an inch difference between the two but I hate to spend more money sending these back and buying new ones. Thanks for any help!

I would not use them there is a chance they could strip off and damage the threads on your bolts.then it would cost a lot more if you have to remove them.

P.S. I had the correct lug nuts... but the "trained tech" at my local Ram Dealership f**ked up bad and the result was this.

You absolutely do not use 9/16 x 18" lug nuts on 14 x 1.5mm studs.
Like the pictures show, you will snap off the studs. The stress you would put on those studs would be unbelievable! ( I think to myself: how could anyone even imagine doing that! )

Anyway do a search on eBay for this item number: 400819321193

I have purchased these lug nuts and they were like new except one had a small dint in the end. If you offer $63USD he will accept that with free shipping!

I would order those but I have a half ton, so I only need 20. Those are in really nice shape though

The 32 would give you spares ...

But that seller also sells 20's: 171569013853

The price is $49.95, free shipping but no best offer ...

Who quoted you the price on a replacement key? A second OEM lug nut lock key only cost about $25. When I bought my truck, my buddy told me to buy a second second key just in case. The OEM lug nut locks/keys are actually made by McGard.

I actually just bought a used 2016 and contacted McGard to get a replacement key. Took about a week and cost $15. They were super friendly and helpful. I'd call them before you buy another set of lugs.
