How well suited for an hid upgrade are the factory projectors?

They work.........but, they are still a halogen projector and lack a clear lens.

I've seen output shots with our drop in kits - the projectors still keep the light focused, but - I'm spoiled.......I love a true HID projector. Huge difference in cost in doing a retrofit on the 2013s vs a drop in kit as well.

AHHH.......options. LOL

Bottom line, they perform well (better than in a standard halogen reflector bowl), but, as the saying goes - there's always something better out there ;)

I'd like to run just a drop in kit since my Sport came with the black projectors. So they should do a decent job reducing glare? I don't want to be that guy if you know what I mean lol.

Youll be fine, even with the less than optimum optics in the stock projector, it will still keep the light focused where it needs to be on the road. The cutoff in the projector will do its job to keep the glare down too.

Last question, 35w or 55w? I've never had hids before so I'm not sure what the output difference would be

You'll get 30-40% more light output from the 55W kits over the 35W ones.

;)
