Well, I didn't realize you guys were on here. I started my retrofit a couple weeks ago. And I think I didn't too bad on my first attempt. I might need bigger shrouds.

I'm waiting to finish then lenses until I aim the projectors. I'll have them installed next weekend with a set of 5000k LEDs. Let me know what I can do better for my next truck or car I do.

You should paint the inside shroud another color!

I was thinking about it, so I plastidipped the chrome back, but I didn't really like it. I might pick up another set because when I trimmed down the inside to make the projector fit, I trimmed a little too much out of it.

Those are the mini Gatling gun shrouds, I think they are too small

I finally got my phone charged to take clearer pictures of the side. Problem is I already have an appointment for next Saturday to have the LEDs installed.

5000k LEDs. Using them instead of HIDs, they run cooler and take les power and won't flicker. Plus at $180 installed I can't beat the price

View attachment 27556that's the company's truck that I'm getting them installed by.

Im interested to see how this goes
Your mini H1 is a bixenon projector, it has a solenoid activated shield that is triggered through the HID wiring harness
Is the place your getting them installed providing a harness to drop the shield?
Would really suck having the cutoff all the time.

I havent seen a quality H1 style headlight LED bulb which your projector is specifically designed for either (360* filament light, most headlight LED I've seen are 180* as one side is low beam and the other is high beam so the dont have as terrible of a glare as a HID in a stock housing)
I'm not sure your going to get the output your looking for
Hopefully they arent planning on installing a H13 bulb in your projector!

If I had to guess they use Lifetime LED headlight bulbs, they are about $150

From what I'm understanding is that it is a 360* bulb. Because he said that it was like standing in front of flood lights, hence why I wanted the projectors.

I'm going from Quads to Duals, so I will have a separate harness for the Hi Beam that the shield will be wired into. I asked them to Hardwire the ballasts in to the the harness of the truck because I am very picky about my wiring. I was told that the HIDs have a horrible flickr to them when they are installed. I guess I'll be a guinea pig for these. They installed them into a new Chevy 1500 with projectors and they were pretty sweet. I'll know more this weekend.

edit: they know that they have to get a H1 LED. I made it abundantly clear and asked if the price would go up, and he said it would stay the same.

Flicker depends on the HID kit, I haven't heard of any flickering problems with the retroshop kit

I bought everything from a different retrofit shop because I didn't know about the retroshop. And I guess that The guy who owns blackout was going to put HIDs in his ram but then had about 10 people come to him when they started doing electronics to fix their HIDs because it make the whole electronic system go haywire

Well, good news and bad news. I got them installed today. And it took US about 2.5 hours. Turns out the morimotos only accept a certain H1 bulb. The LED bulbs I got were bigger. So, we grabbed a drill and make the hole bigger for the bulb to fit in. Then the wiring fun started. They are in now but I'll wait to post night pictures. Here's the picture of the box they came in ImageUploadedByTapatalk1399138339.498463.jpg

We'll tonight in the rain on the way home it was equivalent to stock. Which I am okay with. I'll take pictures when the rain clears up later this week.
