1/4" is overkill. A good reinforced 3/16" bumper is more than enough for our trucks. The move bumper had no reinforcement. The brackets were 3/16 and welded straight to the flat metal that way. That's where majority of the failure went. The winch bending the bumper i could have dealt with. Bent brackets and bent frame horns with bent or broken/missing grade 8 bolts i couldn't deal with.
Update now. Ignore my last post. I reinstated the fusion bumper. Company is local and they swung by Monday to drop a customer's bumper off, started talking about my bumper and he got me excited about it again.
Did a photo chop and it's pretty ******* looking. So, Fusion it is. Supporting another local based company feels better anyways.
