Ugh. Son of a @%&#@

My fault, I'm a YouTube ******. Hopefully will get that fixed later tonight.

Need to locate a video so I can figure out how to swap out my low beam H11bulbs in my quads first.

Very easy you use a panel puller and pop up the I believe it's six plastic rivets on the plastic shroud over the radiator then there will be 4 ten mm bolts holding on the grill after removing the grill there is two ten mm bolts 1 on the top and 1 on the bottom of the light that you remove as well as in the fender well there is a hatch you must pop the plastic rivet on and reach inside and push the plastic tab up to release the back of the headlights then gently pry them out the low beams h11 are located in the center of the lights behind the dust cap just swapped mine over to sylvania zxe for lows and highs the other day hope this helps

One more thing about the lights had to adjust them again after reinstall mine were way off so if yours are adjusted properly now you might want to throw some tape on a wall or garage and it might make it easier to get them back to where they were before you swap in your new bulbs

Thanks for the heads up.
Just finished installing the Silvania SilverStar ZxE's in my Lows (H11 bulbs) that were on sale at Advance Auto with $15 mail in rebate plus for 10% off as a veteran (about $42 total)

I bought them there as well with a 30% off coupon I found on the web right around the same price with tax as you paid. . as far as the brightness goes im impressed so far much better than stock in my opinion and a throw a wider farther beam of light down the road the lines on the road and signs are much easier to see now .when i can afford the upgrade will be going to oem projectors so these bulbs were a nice upgrade to hold me over

This sums it up for me too. And since I don't have fogs the lighting from the lows was pretty bad up close.

Not sure if they are actually better or if it is placebo with the whiter color output but they do seem better than stock b and a worthwhile upgrade if not going with a projector/hid conversion for a while.

@ Mpgrimm2 , the video link above says " this video has been removed by the user " ?

My fault, I'm a YouTube ******. Hopefully will get that fixed later tonight.

Well, when I messed with the 16.13.13 RA4 Update video on the YouTube website and deleted it there, it also thought I wanted it deleted from my phone, so now I have nothing to re-upload.

20+ Mins in the truck recording,
65 mins to upload
1 sec to accidentally delete it

... priceless!

INFO - 2013, 2014, 2015 8.4AN FW Notes (RA4/VP4 NA)

Anyone have any issues with loss of vehicle settings installing a 14 RA3 into a 15 Express that came with a RA2. Everything works flawlessly and I've been able to update it to latest firmware, only thing is I lost the horn honk with lock setting when I swapped radios. It's not a big deal as I've gotten used to it now just didn't know if maybe the truck it came out of that was a setting in the cluster vs it being a setting in the radio on my RA2 I took out.

The horn with lock setting is in the radio in the RA2 as well. It should show in your settings menu on your 8.4 as well. I lost my option to turn my turn by turn on and off after my update. Sometimes we do lose the ability to turn certain functions on an off but I haven't heard of losing the horn with lock function. You probably already have checked this but I would go through all your settings to see if somehow it got moved. Also in some cases people have had features return after a few on off cycles.

Hey guys, i've read through a lot of this thread. I just have a question i need confirmed before i make my purchase on my 8.4.

2013/2014 trucks can use a 2013/2014 HU
2015 trucks can only use a 2015 HU
2016 trucks can only use a 2016 HU

Is this right? You cannot put an older HU in a 2015 or 2016 truck?

This is NOT correct Sir , the 2013 + 8.4" Head units can be installed in any 2013 + RAM , best to verify it came out of a Ram .
The breakdown you have above is for updating the firmware. ... the 13 &14 s have a spacific firmware, 15 as well and the 16 8.4s have their spacific firmware version .
Need to note , still learning the install & outs on the 16 RA4 radios .

Hopefully Mpgrimm2 or RicksRam or others will chime in with more spacific ...

Hope this helps you Sir !

This is all i'm working w/ from Car-Part.com

"receiver, w/o navigation; AM-FM-Uconnect-Bluetooth-8.4' touchscreen (ID RA3), satellite capable, Uconnect smart phone connectivi"

The wrecker is local to me so i will go in person to confirm it is out of a Ram.

Now, do I require the VIN # of the wrecked Ram to get the ID/PIN # from the dealer?

This!

(Though the 2013/2014 RA4's have had the least issues/been the most compatible when installed in any year truck.
It is likely that the issues with the 2016's are due to fw versions on the radio's which have caused a 60-70% success rate with them. Hopefully the 15.30.2 and later fw will have resolved it. )

You should get the Vin # it came out of for firmware updates if your vehicle you will be installing the 8.4" came withe the RA1 OR RA2 5.0 Radio .
As for the anti theft code I'm not certin if vin is required or just the radios s/n , I've not needed to ask for an anti theft code yet .
Try to get the vin# though

PS:
I have not been keeping track of firmware versions for the Ra3/vp3-na (non-Nav) radios or their various part numbers for each year.

Mainly because most people, for the money, want the Nav and HD radio options. It costs about $400-$500 to activate Nav on an RA3 later.

But, if you don't need that stuff and want to save a few bucks up front, it will work. Like RLK said, make sure you get a VIN and that it came out of a Ram truck if possible. Some have been successful with 8.4 or of Jeep Cherokees because the radio has the same PN as the RAM version. Not all Chrysler models share the Ram's radio.

You do not need the Vin# of the donor truck to get the unlock code but it helps. Some dealers will give you the code but they request the donor Vin. If you don't have the donor Vin you can easily obtain the unlock code on line from places like Navrepair.com with the part number and the serial number for around 20.00. As stated it is much preferred to make sure it's out of a Ram.
