If you ever get to Fld. if you have a chance stop by the Don Garlits' Museum. He has a lot of his older dragsters, stockers and funny cars there. Really interesting--time well spent.

I've met 'ol Don a few times and been to his museum. That place is a car guys Graceland. Don is a really cool guy too.

I was fortunate enough to be taught by one of the big boys from Don's days of racing, Al Joniec. He used to race as Batman, in an old mustang. I remember one day being in the shop with him and asking him "Hey Al, what did you guys use for rev limiters back then?" Without missing a beat he goes "Valve float". :happy107:

Ahhhh that makes sense... Well dang. You should buy one for the tow pig then. :roflsquared:

Any sort of Ram air type intake would help. The hood is just the most convenient place. You could set it up to not cover the supercharger when you open the hood though.

I'm not wanting to cut out a foglight though. The grill idea might work, but you'd have to relocated your overflow or washer bottle, neither of which is a big deal.

I may have been thinking of the wrong transmission... All I know is the eight speed is vastly superior to the older 5 and 6 speeds.

I would imagine the truck would downshift less... Other than that, if your cooling is adequate, your MPGs shouldn't really change much.

Relocated mine and it wasn't bad at all, little cutting but nothing serious, turned out pretty clean

Add one more thing to be frustrated with on these trucks. When I bought it I never had any intention of doing any mods, but I've gotten the itch lately, and the more I read on the forums, the more disappointed I am. I have a mainly GM, partial Ford background with modded vehicles, and I've never had any of the issues I'm hearing about with these trucks. Can't find a trans to hold big power, ECU can't be tuned to handle 1000+. Surely that can't be true. I'm not ********, I'm just having a hard time believing with as big of a following as these trucks have, someone hasn't come up with solutions to these issues. If you go look at the Camaro/Mustang world, there's a million trans possibilities, no ECU limitation issues that I've ever heard of. It's just mind blowing to me.

Yeah, tell me about it. I been a GM guy since I could drive and I've always heard about Mopar tunning was PITA to deal with then it made sense why you don't many huge builds with them.

Some have it figured out but there's not a abundance of in person tuners across the nations like for GMs and Fords.

anyways back on topic.
I saw this on facebook too over the weekend. I wondering why it's only for the 2013+

Now I wouldn't risk my weak ass stock 5/6 speed but a built one could handle the power.

My guess is tuning. What year did it switch to where you need to cjabge the whole pcm to add a tuner 13 14 or 15?

Its more than likely simply transmission related. Every supercharger company knows that the 5/6sp transmissions wont last with boost because they cant control how people drive their trucks. If driven correctly, the transmission will take the power (my truck is a testament to that). But they have no way to warranty a part when they cant trust the end user to drive it the way it needs to be driven to make the transmission last. Because of that, they are probably just trying to save themselves the headache and only offer the kit for the 8sp trucks.

See, that's what I was thinking but very few 2013s came with the 8 speed. So that's what has me confused and dont some the base model 14s have the 5/6 speed too.

I don't really care either way, I will never get one but thought it was strange.

6sp is still offered in the 15's and 16's as well. Whipple will likely only list this for the 8sp trucks though.

So apparently Whipple is FINALLY making a kit for the 5.7L Rams... I saw this on their Facebook page this morning:

Now that's just plain sexy.

Hope they really come through with the 6.4 kit as well. Guess I should start researching upgraded 66RFE transmissions:) The lower gearsets/clutches are straight out of the 68RFE so I wonder if the some/all of the remaining overdrive parts would fit as well. Would assume if that trans will live behind a 900ft/lb Cummins it should also live behind a Whipple Hemi.

Will be curious to see how they address the 6.4 EGR setup. The stock setup uses a huge EGR cooler with sits directly underneath the intake. I can't see them disabling it for emissions reasons, so assume they have reconfigured it somehow. Also hope it works with the dual-alternator setup since that option uses a piggyback crank pulley.

According to the comments by whipple on the fb post:
they're going to offer it for both transmissions as well as both engines, 5.7 and 6.4.
Kit is with the 2.9 Blower
Will offer a 50 state legal kit or all will be 50 state legal. (Didn't specify, open to interpretation)
Will also have MSD and EGR. Quote from post "yes MSD and EGR is maintained in all our emission legal kits"
As of July 30 kit is 60 days out.
