These look so good Im returning the Belltech Rear drop and doing the whole GF 9983 kit.
I'm soooo trying to be patient to see what the 2wd sprindles do with pred. I'd rather them and the belltech 4" rear with the durango bags. if they don't work looks like I'll have to go the GF 2/3 gamble as well.

Yeah,.......the only thing holding me back is the crappy winters. Looks killer lowered and handling should/would improve as you stated. I have to think it over.
(Man, I can't wait to retire and move south.)
Enjoy. :favorites13:

I live in northern Canada.... Didn't think twice. If those kids rocking lowered stupidroo's all winter can do it... My 4x4 with my winter BFG's won't have an issue.. I'm still much higher. And I live in the bush.

DO IT! Haha

Not so much worried about driving in the snow with a 2/3 drop, it's the snow that's piled up at the end of my driveway when I get home from work. Sometimes the piles are as high as knees and higher. I want to be able to back the truck into the driveway and then snowblow/shovel the driveway instead of leaving the truck out on the street, even though I live on a quiet street and it has 2 car capacity. But when it snows, the street becomes narrower.
I absolutely HATE the winter months. :flipthebird: :flipthebird: :flipthebird:

Everyone hates winter. But unless I move to America (NOOOOOO) then I'm staying with 3 months of winter. Thats what 4x4 is for. Personally I'd just back into your driveway right through the piles of snow. The front ends on these new trucks are soft plastic (what isn't anymore) so driving in probably isn't wise. I think you should look at a lowered truck in person because these 4x4 trucks, mine has a 2/4 isn't 'low' .. It looks low because its not the natural truck type stance, especially for a 4x4. My gf's 16 Accord is much lower to the ground than mine, and she bashes through the banks (god forbid she shovel) and doesn't cause issues. Sometimes she's been stuck with her TL or when she had the Passat but thats not my problem. With 4x4 you'll be fine..

Worry less.. Lower more!

Pfft you guys worry too much about daily driving a lowered ram. I'm a regional sales guy that puts on 75,000-90,000kms a year throughout Saskatchewan which has some of the harshest Canadian winters. No regrets with my lowered ram. My other commuter car is a 2005 Acura TL lowered on coilovers.

I agree, but when the piles of snow are stacked to your knees and above, how do you not damage your exhaust or rear bumper when backing through the snow piles? Especially if they are caked solid? I would think I would be scraping the rear bumper and messing up the exhaust alignment by doing this, no?? I can't have that,.........I'm too fussy about my vehicles. lol
I'm not worried about driving in the snow with a lowered 4X4 as the 4X4 works killer, even if lowered. This is my second Ram 4X4 truck and I love it.

**I do love that line,........WORRY LESS, LOWER MORE!!!

I've gone through 3 winters with lowered 2wd 1500's
with absolutely no issue due to ground clearance
Quality snow tires or well performing all seasons made all the difference
I had painted steel or chrome bumpers, that showed no damage from driving through snow piled high on the roads- painted plastic may be a problem though....
I'm sure if you hit a fender high hard snow bank with a lowered or stock height truck it wouldn't be pretty
I honestly think you'll be fine as long as you exercise caution

First post on this site, just came over from the dark side, 8 lug world, back to the a 1500 similar to my 05 QC Hemi. I'm in the same boat as IanL, really want to get the modification process underway. De-badging already done as soon as I rolled in the driveway with it!

Question for the OP, and I know this is very subjective, GF says their system rides "close" to stock, sometimes better. Can you add a little to your comment on the ride quality. The reason I left the 8 lug world was primarily ride harshness. I sure don't want to go back to something like I had, the 1500 rides pretty darn smooth for a truck, definitely smoother than my 05 QC 1500.

Looks awesome! Cant wait to lower mine.

Has any one tired or know of the Mcgaughy's 2wd 2/4 drop part# 44052 will work with the 4wd, Ik iv read that some don't advertise for 4wd but it still works

When I was just running the GF kit and stock shocks I had very little difference in the ride quality. The biggest difference in the ride quality came when I upgraded the shocks and it was a night and day difference in the ride quality.

Yes, the McGaughy's spindles work for the 4wd. You can just install them directly and they'll work, it's what I've done with no issues but there is a better method if you want to do the extra work. The inner CV doesn't sit completely flush against the inner stub shaft on the differential because the spindle is a little further out than the 4wd spindle. If you add a spacer/crush sleeve to the inner face of the spindle between the outer CV axle and hub you'll have everything perfectly measured up and won't have any issues.

The ride is firmer with less give, that's the best way I can describe it.

Not harsh unless you hit a decent pothole, even then it's not really harsh honestly.

You do get jostled around more on crappy roads as well.

BUT

The truck will handle drastically better, way flatter and more composed.....throw it in a turn and it soaks it up and asks for more! Body roll/lean is basically gone, think German car handling in a truck.

Braking is also better, no more nose dive.

Thanks for the info, it is much appreciated. I loved the 07 2500 Cummins for pulling but the ride got very, very old at the end of a 5-600 mile trip, even on the interstate, it was just "busy" all the time.

I should have added that on a normal, smooth road the ride is almost like stock.

Bumpy, uneven roads is really the only time you would notice the firmer ride. This is the given trade off with performance springs really.

I was used to the ride with in the first week or so.
