That happened to me in traffic on the highway. Only happened one time but it still stutters at low rpms/low speeds. I brought it in again last week and made a service tech ride with me because it seemed to be happening all the time. And of course I couldn't get the truck to do it when the tech was with me so they said they couldn't do anything. It's worse on an incline, but also does it downhill or on level ground.

Hoping someone who is having the same issue can get a tech to finally figure out what it is and let us all know.

Truck is still doing the stuttering. But I'm just driving it till it breaks completely. Cause I'm tired of mechanics telling me they can't duplicate it. I don't have enough time in my days to mess with them.

I'm a bit concerned. Just bought a new 2016 Megacab with the Hemi6.4. At 250 miles started noticing the lag or stutter. Then next day started accelerating from a red light and engine just shut off completely. Pulled over and it restarted fine. Reading this thread I'm worried I bought a lemon? It's At the dealer this weekend. Really sucks to take a brand new truck in for service the first week of ownership. I will post follow up when I get it back next week.

Update!

Got a call today from service advisor that nothing was found. So they put a senior tech in the car and he drove around, and he had the engine die as he was driving. So apparently they are contacting Chrysler and waiting for a response. I am happy that it happened while he was driving but dismayed that it has a problem in first 300 miles!

I will let everyone know as soon as I get some answers.

Ok here is an update on my situation. As stated above my truck was brand new and started shutting off while driving in the first 250 miles. It happened while the tech was driving it so they "opened a ticket" with Chrysler for help on what to check since no fault codes came up. After a week with nothing happening I called the dealer and basically asked if they would just take the truck back and give me a new one. I called Chrysler directly and opened my own complaint as well.
The dealer called me back the same day and agreed to "unwind" my deal and put me in a new truck. I was told that the Chryler engineer was having them check all electric connections to the mds system as they felt that's where the problem was coming from. It took about 2 weeks to get into my new truck and still no fix for the first one.
And thankfully so far so good with new one. No stuttering or lag, and no shutdown while driving.

I bought my new 2015 1500 V8 Hemi. At about 15,000 miles I started having the same problem where it hesitates what gear to go into. Later down the road it started jerking sometimes too.

I have had the truck in about 6 times at two different service departments. They have tried the quick learn and the full reset. Neither work. They always tell me they can't duplicate the problem.

Now the other day I noticed a big oil leak near the differential. Sitting at the dealership now hoping to have it fixed. If my issue is not fixed I will now have to resort to taking legal action against them.

Defective egr valve ended up being my issue. There was a recall on it. Took about a year of constant complaints until they finally figured it out.

Still been fighting back and forth on this for over a year. Nothing. They replaced a pinion seal and they helped a little and stopped the leaking. But my truck still likes to ride rough in low RPMs, hard shift out of second gear, and hesitate in the RPMs.

Since I've been working so hard to get this resolved and nobody will do a don't thing, you can bet I'll never buy another ram truck. Looks like I'm going with Ford or Toyota next time around. In the meantime, I'm just stuck living with this obnixious defect that makes it very uncomfortable to drive my $40,000 truck.

Sorry to bump an old topic and double post at the same time but....

For any of you that are having this issue it seems like the other posters are correct with it having to do with with the ECO mode. I turned the Eco off and it's like a whole new truck. No issues at all. Unfortunately you can't turn the Eco off permanently without installing a tune in your truck which would void the warranty. So to do it manually just follow these steps:
1. Turn the truck on and put it in drive
2. Press the "Gear-" button on your steering wheel.
3. Press the "Gear +" button 8 times or until you see the big "8" come in your dashboard.

The truck will continue to shift like a normal automatic but it won't turn the Eco on. Sadly you will have to do this every time you get in your truck. I'm going to the shop today to have them look at my Eco mode and see they can figure out why it's such a piece of crap.

I've been fighting with this for a very long time and just not figured it out. Many hours wasted at the shop and lots of frustrating drives. I hope this helps someone else out.

Doing that doesn't turn off the ECO mode, it turns off the MDS cylinder deactivation. They aren't the same thing.... you can go into the radio settings and turn off the ECO mode light. You can't turn off the MDS (permanently) unless you get a custom tune.
