Pressed the emergency brake and it went to the floor looked under the truck and the cable is hanging.
Looks pretty torn up. Would like to replace the whole assembly ....how difficult?...and where to buy?

Older rams have aftermarket parts available. I know Wagner makes them for gen2, but not sure about newer a lot of times the cables are oe only parts availability. Without year and model it's hard to give you a part number. Different parts for different years and wheel bases. Most of the time if it's dangling it's sticking in the drum or needs adjustment because it stretched a bit. Unless the cable is binding i'd leave it.

BWL thanks for your response!..........Brake pedal in the cab seems to be disconnected cause it goes right to floor (you can move it up & down with your hand) when I look under the chassis the cable is very slack. It's rusted also. I want to change the whole cable system. Mine is a 2001 dodge ram 3500 diesel.

There's 4 cables. Front and intermediate are the ones you want it seems. There's also a right and left at the rear. Wagner has aftermarket ones for your truck. So other guys may make them as well. Try somewhere like parts geek or rock auto and enter you vehicle specs and all the available parking brake cables and pricing will come up as well as anyclips or fasteners you may need to replace while you're at it.

Just checked and rock auto has everything you'll need for pretty cheap. If you have trouble finding the part there you can order over the phone as well and they can find it for you.
