weird wiper function

bought this a few weeks ago.

noticed when i start the truck in the morning shortly after the wipers will swipe the windshield once without me turning them on. whatever, i can live with that.

today it was snowing, i turned on the intermitent wiper and the wipers went halfway and stopped. put them on full and they worked. turned them back to intermediate and they worked except sometimes they would wipe 5 continous times, the next would be the correct one wipe and the next it might be 4 wipes in a row. very random behavior.

is the multi function stalk to blame? if so could i get away with a used one or is this a common problem where its not worth getting used?

Not sure, how do i know? I doubt it does.

Sometimes when i push for washer fluid, the wipers stop mid swipe right as i stop pushing on the stalk.

should be on the window sticker. I asked because I have the automatic wipers and I see similar functions except for the stopping half way. Sometimes it even seems the speed I'm going controls how fast they wipe

No precipitation right now, i turned on the intermitents and it went *****, wipe once, wait and wiped 4 consecutive times.

Is it true the fcm does most of the windshield wiper thinking?

No auto wipers in any of the third gen trucks.

I’m not exactly sure what comtrols the timing on the 05 windshield wipers. It also could be that the motor is losing its “position” and running again to try to come back to the home position which may make it look like a timing issue.
