I doubt you get salt under and through the plastic lining of your factory carpeting. Damn brother kick your boots off before you enter your truck or get some slush mats! :roflsquared:
Trust me.. You can be as clean as possible and the salt still finds a way in.. nasty, nasty stuff!!

It's a trade-off for the climate we live in.. deal with -30 winter temperatures.. or risk getting bit by a venomous creature .

I was trying for that too but too many hangy down thingies (lol) to accomplish my ocd straight line complex
Luckily my lights are flexible...lol

I have ones that look similar and yes they are flexible....little too much lol

I actually ended up mounting them on the side of the bed rather than the bottom of the rail. They are still tucked way up there and invisible but it seemed to throw the light better into the middle of the box instead of down at the wheel well. Also it avoids all those "hanging down thingys" :D

I used some LEDs from Oznium. I tapped into the cab light but I also installed a switch in the bed wall and isolated it with a relay. I put a diode in the cab light line to prevent power from back feeding to the cab light. This way I can power the lights from inside or out.

Nice work Pistol! I've debated doing the extra wiring for the remote switch that is included in the kit I used but haven't had the need just yet :D

For those wondering... my bed lights work just fine using the cab light switch when the truck is running. No trouble codes.

Nice work guys! No idea where this rumor of the lights working and not working with the truck running. Sounds like an isolated case that somehow became passed off as true.

Everything runs through the bcm and the bcm is "expecting" a certain amount of draw to each output.

It's not that LEDs overdraw the output, it's just that the bcm is sensitive regarding the output being different than what it expects (high OR low)

That's why I always recommend using a relay. And if for some reason the signal circuit you tap in to is PWM then a small capacitor inline from the signal circuit will stop any relay chatter. Clean, fused power from the battery is always better than tapping in to / adding to existing circuits.

With LEDs I wouldnt be overly concerned about overloading the circuit.

I would just worry about the BCM thinking "I was expecting 0.5A draw, now I see 0.6A draw, Im shutting that down right now"

Damn JB1, I'm including you in my OCD club. More like OCO since I don't feel its' a "dis"Order. Looks like you've been waxing and polishing the inside of your bed. I would eat dinner off of it if the mess wouldn't drive you nutz. Lookin good!

Lol ya the white helps to make it seem very bright

I put LED tape lights under the bed lip of my buddies 2500 w/8' bed. Tapped power off the +12V from the 7 pin trailer plug. I mounted a safety switch on the left side just under the bedrail also. He said it works great for when he's hooking up his fifth wheel trailer.IMG_20161016_200314-01.jpeg

So I tried the same mic tuning led install today.

Tried tapping into red in trailer harness with no success. Couldn’t get power there.

Then tapped into what I originally wanted to do which is the white with tan wire in the driver side door sill. I still have original halogen bulbs in cargo light.

Leds will blink with opening car from key but won’t turn on when button by the dash is pressed. Dash light up and then makes a weird “you failed” noise. Probably the bcm you guys keep mentioning huh?

Any advise?
