I don't know but apparently happens as soon as 6000 miles new, and btw burning coolant will fk up the coolant, lol.

Not sure what the fix is, maybe a thicker head gasket...
Definitely not in your head , Redline really does quiet the hemi , the more the better . I just went 9550+ miles on Redline and this is the second time Blackstone Labs recommend I go 10k+ miles on my next oci !Little update on my Redline oil change a week or so ago.
So I guess I never realized how quiet these motors could be. Mine never made much noise anyway, but even just a couple hundred miles on the redline 5w-30 and large RP filter and its a lot quieter than it was on the Amsoil. It also seems to run and accelerate smoother, could be placebo effect but I really feel it does. I have done some towing as well in these first few hundred miles. Nothing heavy, maybe 2000-3000 lbs, and again it seems to be running and accelerating better/smoother than before with some weight behind it. Call me crazy but it seems to sound a little different as well. Anyone else notice this with theirs?
Sitting beside my truck now, all you literally hear at operating temp is injectors firing. Nothing else. Its quite amazing the difference really. I do believe I am going to stick with this combo for the long term.
Out of curiosity, those of you running this combination, how long are you going between changes? On the amsoil, I was changing around 5000 miles. I let it slide to 6000 once, dont really like doing that though. I know many run longer intervals, but whats the general consensus?

No man that aint the fix, the fix is to make sure it don't happen in the first place. Would you want that as a fix on your car? Find heads that mate to the block, 99% of vehicles handle this basic function.
I agree 100%Redline uoa's are starting to not even look like normal hemi wear. I can't believe how good they are coming out after long term use.
I have a hankering for a UOA. Anybody have any good ones?

Ford admits eco boost burns coolant, wtf? If you need another reason then lspi to not buy an eco boost, lol. Oh hell no, listen to this...
Various sources have said that the problem comes from deformation between the engine block and the cylinder head that occurs as the engine heats and cools. When the engine warms up, the block and head seal as they should. When the engine cools down, the gap returns, and engine coolant can enter the combustion chamber of one or more cylinders.
Quality control? Aluminum heads on a steel block? This always worries me although most of the time there is no issue.
Good technical explanation of what is happening: https://jalopnik.com/why-so-many-ford-focus-rs-owners-are-freaking-out-about-1820280550
The elastomer coating is being worn away between the two center cylinders and allows the coolant to leak in.
Updated head gasket: https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-medi...ogressive,q_80,w_800/hkqvdi9wwfi0uydrsbpv.png
Its not THICKER but there is more elastomer coverage between cylinders and they got rid of an unecessary hole in the center elastomer rings.
Well , I finally got my Blackstone Labs report back , nearly 10,000 miles on Redline oil , with a considerable amount of towing . Some of which was heavy towing with oil temps above 250°f .
Never even had to add any oil as the dipstick was on full / safe the entire time .
I've been running Redline oil for about-face 45,000 Miles now , my truck has over 65k ..which is the beginning of the cam / lifter failure period for those unfortunate soles running a 20wt or non redline oil ...just saying I'm very impressed with this latest UOA .!!! And with a TBN of 3.3 with well over 9k with lots of towing ..

So many have experienced this Nick , thanks so much for the response Sir . Please do not hesitate to show more of fantastic Redline oil reviews from your customers here on the Synthetic oil thread [emoji1303]Hey guys I want to share an experience our customer had with Red Line that he purchased from us.
Customer stated
"In a few of weeks I'm planning to do my first oil change on my 18 RAM 1500. I bought the truck brand new and at 750 miles I experienced the first cold startup "Hemi tick". Now I have 2400 miles and I've had couple more since, specially after very short distances or periods of time (2-3 minutes).
My plan is to go to the dealer and have this documented and eventually taken care of and switch to RedLine"
He purchased 2 gallons and then reached back out to me recently stating
"Hi Nick
Wanted to bring an update to my issue.
Looks like RL it's working very good... valvetrain it's been very quiet since I switched to it and the tick haven't heard it in a while. It took like 1500-1700 miles to cure it and like I said it runs very smooth now."
Here is a great example of what Red Line can do for the Hemi.
Ha ha ha why yes ....yes Sir I do !I have a hankering for a UOA. Anybody have any good ones?

That was a brief run of PUP 0W-40 MIXED 50 / 50 WITH PUP 5W-30 ....a short run of about 2k , my hemi started sounding louder with a very VERY faint tick ....I dumped it right away and Quickly went back to Redline oil ....in short order ( couple of tanks of gas ) my hemi was quiet & smooth again !One of the best hemi uoa's I've seen to date, doesn't even look like a hemi by the uoa. That mileage and the tbn is still 3.3, that is amazing. It seams like the longer you run redline, the lower the wear gets. Wait, wth was that 160ppm moly run?
