Good morning all. I'm new to the RAM world and I have a pretty simple question about my new to me Big Horn. I have a soft bed cover on my truck, and I need an idea for a retainer to keep stuff from sliding to front of the bed, like 40 pound bags of dog food. It's often easier to drop the tailgate than it is to open doors in a parking lot, but I am pretty old to be climbing around on my hands and knees to drag stuff back to the rear.

Thanks in advance, and thanks for having me.

There are grooves in the bed behind the wheel wells and another set up near the front of the bed.

You can cut a 2x6 to fit to hold cargo in place.

You can also buy or make a cargo hook to slide stuff to the tailgate so you don't have to jump in.

I have done both these to make cargo removal easier for my old knees.

Besides what Grizzstang gave for fixes, have you gave any thought to putting a bedrug in the box. They do a lot to keep things from sliding around, and if you're an old guy like we are, your knees will love it,lol. The dealer is usually one of the cheaper places to pick them up at,at least they were a couple years ago when I put one in my last 2 trucks. They are easy to clean if you do haul something dirty in the box, flip the cover up and just wash them out at the carwash, then park it in the sun with the tonnue open and they'll dry out in a couple hours

Ended up doing containers with bungee cords for my pops. Have them hooked to the front and the bins would slide to the back but can be dragged to the front when needed. These are pretty much the bins we used. He has 2 of them tied down for use.

I've always been a fan of the cargo nets for the bed. The stretchy ones are good for hauling can be hooked up sideways instead of longways to keep things from sliding.

I also use the cargo bar. Works great. Picked-up at local hardware store.

I use a cargo bar too. This is the fourth truck that is been in. It's been around 20 years. They are worth it.

I made an organizer for my 'stuff'. Pretty simple, just 2x4's and plywood and it sits nice and snug and can be removed when needed:

I put a coat of spray on bed liner on it to keep it protected from weather and just general aesthetics:

I have a AMP bed extender, nice, but very expensive. If I hadn't gotten it off craigslist I would do the 2x6 trick w/ screw eyes.

I have used a rubber mat for this purpose and cargo bars which I still have. I currently have a sheet of plywood cut to the length of my bed and some 1 by's screwed into it. I can actually pull it out like a drawer but it does add a little weight. Rubber mat and cargo bars are what you need.

Welcome to the site.

I have done the same as above. Rubber mat and cargo bar. I seldom use the cargo bar and I have a heavy foot.
