LED's in license plate light...issues

Installed new led bulbs in my license plate light today. 5 minutes after my headlights came on I got a message in my EVIC that my plate lights are out. Anyone seen this before? The lights are actually still working so I'm guessing it's the lower resistance of the bulbs?

in my 2012 i didnt get that message, dont think i have a message for those bulbs. looks like youll have to add some resistors

I bought led 194 bulbs for my license plate and did not get any message in my evic but one of the bulbs doesn't light up, pulled them and put them in my wife's car and they both worked fine.... just put my regular bulbs back in.

Which brand did you get??? I brought the Sylvania ones at AutoZone

I bought them on amazon. They're chinese but they work just fine, just like the interior lights i got from the same manufacturer. I think the lack of resistance is telling the computer that the bulbs are gone or blown.

I guess it's nice that the truck notices. I just find it really annoying too.
If it's not an downright open circuit, it should just f*ck off.

looks like you have to buy them big ass resistors, deal with it, or go back to stock.... :/

Soo, only a month or 2 old.. But shouldn't CANBUS bulbs fix this issue?

They should. Or bulbs with resistors built in.
I get the same message. Only when I turn the truck on or go to the messages. Doesn't bother me as the only time it flashes in my face is when I turn the truck on when all the other stuff is going on on the screen too.

I had the same issue when I put led bulbs in my licence plate lights. And as far as the CAN BUS bulbs, I bought them for my turn signals and still needed to get resistors for the turn signal lights. AND it still says I have a parking light out. IMO, CAN BUS leds are the same as any others...

Put LEDs in my licence plate on my 14 and get the error every time i fire her up

Sounds like CANBUS bulbs are hit or miss on the 13s and up. All this fancy computer crap..

that sucks...I don't have a regular bulb left in my truck, EVERYTHING is LED or HID, and I have zero issues in my 13...

I had to buy canbus bulbs for my 2014. They got rid of the error message on my evic.
