Should you pre fill oil filter during an oil change? These guys talked me into it.

I just cut some a few weeks ago! I split all mine with an axe. I find it actually split suprisingly easy for such a hard wood. I dont have much experience with it though

Is it "conventional" or "synthetic"? :rofl:

Exactly...and why not? Get it as close to normal operating conditions, imho...

I've been doing this all the way back when in the late '70's on my first car ... that short feller in the video could use an shot of Ritalin before his veins in his neck pops out, lol!

My dad would come unglued if he ever caught me not filling the oil filters on the tractors back in the early 70's,lol.Even a horizontal filter benefits from filling it with a bit of oil ,and rolling it around till the pleats are wet with oil

My wifes 10speed ranger takes that ULV fluid. Its like the constantly of water no joke. I keep using it because its still under warranty. The trans has pretty noticeable shudder at times and im SURE that fluid provides very little protection when them shudders are happening. Also is just a noise trans all together.

I hate working on that truck.

You won't split this stuff with an axe! Especially the stuff where the main trunks join. Axes and splitting wedge axes bounce off, its damn dangerous as they can bounce straight back at you. It's like hitting concrete with an axe but some conveyor belt on top to give a bounce back. You have to use mechanical splitters. The limbs are fine, just the main trunks. The reason this stuff is all still there is not many people had mechanical splitters in the 70's. These were all ringbarked back in the mid 70's and until we got the diesel splitters about 6 years ago no-one would touch the big stuff.

Thank you for the question. Unfortunately, I'm not going to get into details concerning formulations. We keep our formulations proprietary and do not discuss them. As for why we offer both oils, the Dominator Oil (TDR) is an older formulation that works fantastically for racing applications, particularly dirt bike racing. It is designed as either an injection oil or a 50:1 pre-mix oil. As for the Saber Professional (ATP), this has been formulated for use in power equipment and is marketed towards landscapers. This oil is a 100:1 pre-mix oil which allows for less oil per gallon of fuel, offering cost savings and a smokeless product without sacrificing protection or performance.

like kyle said that has more carbon, they probably over treated that one works best at 100 to 1, my guess similar to redline, redline works better watered down.

So, Sabre @ 100:1 ~ Dominator @ 50:1?

Amsoil only mentions JASO FD spec on Sabre data sheet, even though Dominator advertises detergent additive. This spec is a measure of deposit prevention, and Stihl Ultra is only FB level.

Like was said earlier, the quality and viscosity of the synthetic base oil likely determines how well it both lubricates and exhausts without depositing.

Is anyone running Sabre @ 100:1? Reviewers online seemed hesitant, I think the max I saw ran 80:1.

Maybe I should have bought Dominator?

Yes.


Thinking even futher back to my OPE days, most of the stuck rings, clogged ports, clogged spark arrestors were people buying Pennzoil outboard oil, or similar Bel-Ray, etc.
