I know my truck is damn near 20 mph slower then the wifes 6.4 Challenger, lol.
Cars gone 174 mph in Mexico, before the wife made me slow down, and the trucks gone 155 mph when it had 3.21 gears. Car might have had another 2 or 3 mph in it,if the boss wasn't with me,but she was getting mighty unhappy, lol.

Do they still do factory speed limiters? Top speed runs on a quad cab with 35's doesn't seem like a good idea, hence the reason I ask. :driver:

The trucks shut down at roughly 106/107 mph, with nothing more then the limiter opened up and a set of 3.21 gears, they'll blow your mind at how fast they'll go.Even a stock truck with the limiter removed and 3.21's will get close to 140 mph.

My 5.7 300 with just the 6.4 manifolds and catless mid pipes off the 1320, has seen 166 mph with the limiter removed, but that was with a slight tailwind and a bit of a downhill, but it has no problem touching 160 mph on a flat road. I took it on our clubs tour last fall, and all the 6.4 guys were surprised at how fast the car was wide open, lol. I took it,to prove to a couple meatheads that the car would do 160 mph,as they were being a pita telling me no way it'd do 160,the car shut them up pretty fast, by the time we hit the first stop, their tune had changed, lol

What is the reason they limit them? Driveshaft balance?

Thats awsome mine was just a stock 5.7l on the hwy at 130am not many out it got up to 145mph pretty easy but to get to 153 it was slow tick on the speedometer. I would have kept going but ip ahead i saw taillights so i brought it back down and took a exit before i got the the car. The truck i have only had to 104 Im guessing its probably limited not much after that.

I may or may not have had an excessive velocity experience in that speed range, a few decades ago on a Yamaha FZ-750.

I couldn't imagine wanting to experience that in a truck. You must be hardcore.

Actually the truck is surprisingly easy to drive at those speeds. With speed rated tires on it,you can easily drive it with 1 hand wide open :waytogo: I've rode in my buddies pullied / tuned and tweaked Red Eye with the 2.62 gears, and that thing is nuts, even at 195 mph,it was still pulling, before he backed out of it. Check out the wheels on the back of his Red Eye,the green Challenger beside his has 295's on it,lol. He's done a mini tub,and runs a 15" brake conversion,so he can run massive 15 inch tires on it. Car has spun the rollers to just over 1100 at the wheels.

All I can say is, you're a braver man than me taking a dodge to those speeds. I have yet to exceed 130 km/h but the truck had tons of power and kept whispering "what's your problem you silly girl". I just can't stomach those speeds anymore.

Hey @Wild one It appears the LS world is about to start using the ZF8HP transmissions. A few guys over are in the process of doing the swap. I would love to do that mod to mine lol.

Russell did 1 in his i think 71 Chevelle with an LS swap years ago, lol. The 8 speed swap is getting to be fairly common now in vehicles that aren't Chrysler. Your new toy would be wicked with an 8 speed in it,but if you're planning on installing that 175 shot of nitrous, you might want an outfit like Pure or Sipple to go through and build a 8HP70 for you,or hunt up a gold plated 8HP90.

Tires, brakes and suspension ref speed, and limiter. The fastest I have been in a truck 110 mph, on a motorcycle, my Honda limited at 125 mph, in a Crown Vic 138 mph with the tranny screaming to stop, lol.

On MY 19, not quite 100 mph, well there is one 85 mph road around Austin, where PPL run 100 mph for chits and giggles, but not on my stock truck with AT3W's on it, end up having the tires beat me down highway, LOL. At this time in my life, just not gotta run that fast, but it is an adrenaline rush, lol.

Had an 04 Impala on a coded run at 116 mph (had V6, when asked why so fast, told Capt would not go 117 mph), so I got wrote up for violating SOP, I airborn'd that sucker over a hump, ohhhhh the sound, lol.

CAVEAT: Been 154 mph in a 68 Dodge Coronet with the Stock 440, 3/4 cam, etc etc (few mods), but I was a pax, not driving.

I think that speedo might have been a touch off in the Coronet. With 3.23 gears and 28" tall tires that old 440 would of had to pull 6,000 rpm or a bit more in high gear to hit 154 mph. Cable speedo's were notoriously inaccurate when we were kids, lol. That's one thing that has changed for the better, and that's how accurate new speedo's are if the tire size is correct

Can only tell U what was told. Got no clue wat rear was in the car. Had 17" tires on car and trans was modified but no nitrus. That being said, dude driving was even a bigger nut than me, but at 17/18 who cared. He had it pegged, one thing I can say man dat 440 sounded so good at the high speed, did have 160 speedo in car, that I remember. Hey, it was a load of fun and dangerous as all get out, hee hee.

Running in dat Crown Vic, with the ole famous Ford Floating front end was a knuckle buster too, one and only time I ever pegged a CV over 110, and this is a rural county, but was middle of day. In my USAF days, we had a Ford LTD with 429 as a chase vehicle. It was quick, but was a behemoth, think made more noise than speed, hee hee. And the front end in that LTD floated more than the CV, was like holding a kite, the things U do when young and stupid, LOL.

ADDED: Me done with all dat crazy running. Heck, I not even open the MC up beyond say low 80's. If pulled governor/limiter, it will get close to 150, but on US roads, oh no. Me crazy, not dat crazy. Old slow AF Boird now.

170 mph is a hard “may not” on that 750. Still a classic bike and cool pic.

On the speedo, My ZRX-1200R was good for about 155 mph tops, and my Sprint ST-1050 could just touch 170 mph… but in creeping slowly from 160-170 the seconds seemingly turn into minutes and it takes A LOT of straight road.
