4x4 with no tow hooks?

Just want to vent here….I was kind of shocked when I found out that my truck did not have tow hooks on it? Ram messed this one up! If your going to engineer a truck with all these fancy options, like your emergency brake won’t disengage with out your seat belt on, don’t forget the essentials. I look at it this way, if you have 4-wheel drive for anything other than conversation you will either need a tow hook to pull someone else out or maybe yourself. Okay I feel better now!

I did find a set online and installed. kind of need them in the construction world with all the mud!

Most people, like the vast vast majority, are buying 4x4 for inclement weather, resale value, or the cool factor. The next segment is using it for rutted dirt roads and unmaintained service trails. The number of people doing serious off roading in a full size truck approaches zero, and most of those are buying a Power Wagon...

For the Gen5 trucks there is an available Off-Road Group option package available for all trims with the exception of the Rebel and TRX that adds tow hooks, skid plates, etc.
There is other option packages that offer the tow hooks in either black or chrome, it sounds like your truck just didn't have any of those options added.

It’s just one of those things. You never know when you have to pull a Ford guy out of the mud. I used the ones on my Nissan quite often!

Mine has chrome tow hooks. Totally dumb. If I ever used them they would likely get scratched. Luckily I’m one of the ones who got off road package for driving on wet grass and 4x4 for the 2 days a year it snows here. My driveway is 14 degree incline according to gauges and it will climb it with an inch of snow.

Agree, tow hook(s) should be standard on a 4x4 truck but priorities and needs of contemporary consumers have indeed changed. Rather than pay the dealer to add tow hooks i took the cheaper route and added a Reese tow loop to the trailer hitch.
Like a truck’s jack, a tow hook is useless until you need it. In my case i have used tow hooks in each of my previous 4WD vehicles far more frequently than the jacks.

Same here on my 2023. I have the limited package but no off road package.

I didn't have them on my 2018. They were on my 2023. I agree that they should be there, if for no other reason than it just looks weird without them.

Not sure what kinds of trucks y'all are buying, but none of that applies to mine. Emergency brake without seat belt on, backing up with door open - seat belt on or not, etc. And I have tow hooks on my 4x2 because I paid the $100 to have the installed when I ordered the truck.

Iknow how you feel, I almost bought a truck with no hooks or fog lights. But the grey one I did get has it all. Very happy , picking it up before Easter.

He has a 5th gen 1500 and don't be surprised if it shows up in the new HD's coming out. Has nothing to do with trim level either.

The all terrain package comes complete with tow hooks. I wish instead it would have come with a transmission skid plate. That plastic cover is one pine tree branch away from leaving a truck on the side of the road.

That's what I did with older trucks. Square bodies sure AF weren't coming with factory recovery points, but trailer hitches were fairly common. Just get a pintle or the like, slap it in when needed, and be done with it. I used my old '87 to literally pull down old farm buildings and never noticed the lack of tow hooks.

It’s the bold, brave and clowns that ultimately need them. Once you climb under a stuck truck consider it a lesson learned! It’s also the fool that thinks they know how to drive off road, when a gravel parking lot is the farthest off road they have ever been. For those, a Honda ridge line is calling their name.
