    Are the 9.25 rear differentials in the Ram 1500's really that weak??

    No, I don't have the factory LSD.....just the non-lsd differential. Had 144,000 miles on it......then all of a sudden while towing cross-country...BAM, loud gear noise from the rearend. Why would the ring/pinion fail like that? I wouldn't think that towing a 4,000lb camper would overload...

    Yep, you got it. I got a call from the shop this morning and the are saying that the ring and pinion gear are completely trashed.....but the bearings were all in good shape. Is that common for the gears to crap out like that? The fluid was changed regularly, and there were no leaks...

    The 04' have the torsion bars up front....no springs. I haven't found anyone that sells a complete leveling kit with shocks. All you do is just crank up the torsion bars a little to raise the front up...no real "kit" needed. But since you are riding around taller, you will hit the extension...
