Still fighting with FCA about my 8 speed

Yep, was looking at trans temp as soon as I pulled out of the dealer. This new truck shifts amazing. I'd love mine to shift like this. I drove a 17 when they put my first trans in. It was pretty awesome too. When I told the service manager how nice the 17 shifted, he told me it was a 845re not a...

Still fighting with FCA about my 8 speed

My thoughts exactly. They are trying their best to get this truck through warranty. I could have just traded the truck months ago and been done with this headache. I just didn't feel right knowing that some unsuspecting soul could end up with this truck. Thankfully the check engine light came...

Still fighting with FCA about my 8 speed

Wow, you can't make this stuff up. Got a call from the service director, the tech could not get the new valve body to work. So now they are ordering another valve body, looks like sometime Monday. Can't help but think this might be a bit of karma. I'll bet the time it takes to swap 2 valve bodys...

Still fighting with FCA about my 8 speed

I went there first thing this morning, talked with the service director and basically their hands are tied. All FCA is authorizing them to do is a valve body and thermal managementram unit. Even though the tech noted the fluid is burnt and he recommends a new trans. The tech is going to...

And to top it off I have a trip planned on the 28th. I need my truck to pull my enclosed. They have me a jeep wrangler. I just called to talk with the service director at the dealer, waiting on a call from her.

Still fighting with FCA about my 8 speed

Frustrating Update. I get a text from my service adviser that a valve body was ordered. I didn't even call, i just left work, went straight there to talk with the service manager. Just so happens the Tech who is doing the work was in the lobby. After explaining to them both that a valve body...

Still fighting with FCA about my 8 speed

I'll never know, neither dealer I took to in the past never checked the fluid level. My guess is as many have said the past, theheater assembly was bad, possibly contaminated from the first failure. I called FCA customer care, and I'll have a new case manager. Hopefully I can convince them to...

Still fighting with FCA about my 8 speed

Update, the truck almost left me stranded today. Was on a 3 hour road trip this evening, luckily on the way home. When it attempted to downshift to 5th and like it had done many times before it acted like it was in neutral then bang into 6th. However this time when it banged into 6th, it...

Still fighting with FCA about my 8 speed

You are absolutely right, why should i be forced to loose money because FCA wont stand behind their stuff? The last thing i want to do is give in, which is exactly what they want me to do. I have missed so much time from work dealing with these people ive already lost money. Either way im going...

Still fighting with FCA about my 8 speed

When it's hot it whines, clunks. Twice its tried to downshift into 5th and it's like it's in neutral. It will then go back to 6th and take off. I've been working out of town back and forth since it hit 271 in August, so it's hard for me to take off and get it to a dealer. The guy at Steve White...

Still fighting with FCA about my 8 speed

I dont, the wife was actually driving back from 3 hr rode trip when it happened. She called me and said it was at 271. I told her to slow down, or get off an exit, I had never seen it that high. Highest I'd seen was 240 and it didn't sound good at that temp. I wasn't sure what was going happen...

Still fighting with FCA about my 8 speed

I'm not doing anything out of the ordinary. To me this is not a mole hill, I'm on my second trans in a truck with less than 50k miles. Funny thing is they replaced the first one with no CELs on. The tech noted the fluid was burnt, hell I can't even get them to check the fluid level now.

I understand that, my problem is the transmission has been compromised at this point. It's been 240+ several times. At those temps it whines and bangs when down it shifts. I'm certain the heater is the problem, however it damages the transmission in the process.

Still fighting with FCA about my 8 speed

Are you serious? The truck is under warranty, so you think I should shell out 4 to 5 k then hope I can get them(FCA) to reimburse me? That's not going happen. The trans is toast at this point. This post was intended to bring awareness to the a fact that there is a potential problem with these...

Still fighting with FCA about my 8 speed

Took the truck out on the freeway trying to get it to redline the gauge Was able to get it up to 251, then it started to rain which cooled it down a bit. ILL BET IF THE TRANS WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, FCA WOULD SAY SOMETHING IS WRONG! What do you think?

Still fighting with FCA about my 8 speed

Called and talked to Luke today, he agrees something is definitely not right with my transmission. He suspects the the first trans failure has damaged the cooling system. And it probably wasn't flushed properly. It will be next week before he can look at though. He's a really cool guy, listens...

Still fighting with FCA about my 8 speed

I'm not sure it will get that high now its winter. It hit 271 back in the summer. The further you drive at a steady speed at or above 70 the higher it gets. Going to Charleston this weekend, I'll see what happens. Surprised Ramcares hasn't chimed in. They did on one of my other post. #ramdontcare

The wife was driving when it hit 271, I had it set to show all gauges at the time and didn't think about switching to just the trans temp. But 240-250 is the 3/4 mark on the gauge, so I'd say 271 was close to pegging it.

Before I got in the freeway my temps was 188. Less than 10 miles it's up to 228, and its 33 degrees outside.

Still fighting with FCA about my 8 speed

Mine runs 190 around town, get on the freeway cruising @70 it will run 240. At that temp it whines in 6th and makes some serious banging and clunking when it downshifts. It ran 271 with the wife coming from Charleston. It was August, probably close to 100 outside, so that might had something to...

Still fighting with FCA about my 8 speed

I have zero faith in my local dealers. And less in FCA customer service. I dont really want to keep the truck, im considering a 2500 diesel. What im trying to avoid is trading the truck in and losing money on the trade. My plan was to keep the truck 3 to 4 yrs, im only one year in now. I also...

Yes, I had a case manager. The problem is the case manager relies on the dealer for information. So they was zero help cause the dealer is telling them nothing is wrong. The case manager didn't do anything for me. Hell I even had on dealer ,Stateline in Fortmill that said he didn't even want...
