No. And being that it's heard of them going 500k+ in stock form, there's probably more to your story.

Banks has a story that "If you don't replace this part, your engine is at risk of seizing." Quote from Gale Banks site. "

PREVENTS BROKEN BOLT ENGINE FAILURE

"Cummins Ticking Time Bomb

Due to heat, vibration, and time, a nut and stud from the factory heater grid has been documented to come loose and fall into the intake manifold. Once this happens, it will roll downhill into cylinder #6, causing catastrophic failure that requires a complete engine rebuild or replacement from bent valves, damaged pistons, and head." Don't know is this is your issue but maybe??

There has been a recent thread over this. Highly unlikely to be an issue.

Check and see if you grid heater cable is loose at the manifold... There is no "design flaw" more likely you have something else going on. Is the truck tuned? and modifications? More information on the truck and what happened would be helpful.

So your 11 year old truck with who knows how many miles suddenly developed a "design flaw?" That's hilarious!
Who do you explain all the bazillions of 6.7 trucks out there with ZERO problems if there is a design problem? :manos:
