2002 2500 doors lock when starting?

I know that they started introducing the system where the doors lock at 15 mph, but my doors lock whenever I start the truck. Is that supposed to happen? If so, can I turn it off? I've locked my keys in the truck twice already, and only had the truck 2 weeks.

It's a 2002 Ram 2500. 5.9 Magnum. If this DOES belong in the 2nd gen section, please move it. I never know where to put it, as it's all second gen styling and build, but a 3rd gen year.

I have seen others say they re-programed the door locks, but the next time they started the truck it would revert back to the previous program. My 07 will lock the doors, in about 5 seconds, after starting the engine, with doors shut. I was lucky when I started my truck, with doors shut and the drivers side window down, I was able to unlock the door to get in and turn it off. I went to my local Lowes store and had a door key cut. I keep that key in my pocket as my backup key to get into my truck.

The doors only lock when I start it if the driver's door is closed. Otherwise, it doesn't lock.

My truck is the same way. If I leave a door open, they do not lock. I am bad to start my truck with the hood up and shut the door, which in short time locks the doors.

Exactly. Last time, I needed a jump. My. Buds truck was too close to my driver side so I went in the passenger side. Started it, and got out shut the door without thinking. So, can it be shut off?

Do you have an aftermarket alarm?

Not that I know of. I have a factory keyfob. But there IS a little switch under the dash. Just zip-tied in. I don't see any odd modules.
