Hi. Brand new to this forum.

I've got a new Autel Maxicom Code Reader unit. Getting ready to try it out. Can I leave the ignition key in the START position (engine NOT running) for several minutes while I read codes and run diagnostics? I seem to remember on the 1997 Ram diesel I had (which maybe had a "glow plug"?) that you weren't supposed to leave it in the start position for extended periods of time.

Appreciate any feedback. Mechanics must do this all the time. Maybe they just keep the time down to 60 seconds or something short and then turn the ignition key back to off or something?

Thanks in Advance!

Matt

Thank you Travelin Ram! I appreciate the feedback. I figured it must be ok since shops probably do it all the time. :)
