As I was driving home from work yesterday, my truck dinged and the check engine light came on showing P0463 Fuel Level Sensor Circuit High Input. Moments later, I lost my fuel gauge completely. When I got home, I shut the truck down and restarted to see if it was just a fluke - nope still no fuel gauge. I put the code reader on it and it confirmed the P0463. I looked up the code and found this:
"The fuel level sensor (sender) is located in the fuel tank usually integral to the fuel pump module. Usually they cannot be replaced without replacing the fuel pump module, though there are exceptions. There is a float attached to an arm that travels along a resistor which is grounded to the tank, frame or has a dedicated ground circuit. Voltage is supplied to the sender and the ground path changes according to fuel level. How much voltage depends on the system but 5 volts isn't uncommon."

I tried disconnecting the battery to see if that give me anything but that didn't work either. So I took my truck straight to the gas station and filled my tank up to make sure I had gas. After starting my truck again at the gas station, my fuel gauge came back but I still have a CEL. I looked into some possible causes and noticed something that caught my eye:
"Less likely is the possibility that the PCM, BCM, or Fuel pump computer module has failed"

Although it says "less likely", I think this may be a viable source for the issue. About 2 months or so ago, I had my truck inspected at a local service shop and when I picked it up, my outside temp was malfunctioning. I took it back and they put my truck on their computer and it gave a code U0140 Lost Communication with Body Control Module. They told me to get it to RAM asap as this can cause a lot of headaches with my electrical system. I took it into the dealer and let them know what happened. They told me there was nothing wrong with the BCM because the code had been erased. I argued a little bit but they held their ground so I let it go since my temp gauge fixed itself since it had malfunctioned. While there I let them know I was having issues with my factory radio not working properly. They did the lasted update and it ended up bricking it and needed replaced which they said they would need to order. While the radio was on order, my TPMS started malfunctioning saying I had low pressure in one tire. I stopped and put air in it but the TPMS still said it was low - 15 minutes later, it corrected itself. I called the dealer that day and let them know what was going on and they told me sometimes it happens and I shouldn't be worried about it but that they would schedule me in for service because my radio showed up. Good, great - lets get this thing fixed. Took it in and had the radio replaced - this new radio worked correctly with the USB and recognized my iPod and iPhone. On the way home, I found a new issue - now my volume would stop scrolling sometimes. It would restrict the volume for about 10 minutes and then slowly creep up notch by notch. Called the dealer back and they said they would need to order yet another radio - that was a month ago. Finally today I called them to inform them of the newest issue with the fuel pump, in which they told me the other radio has arrived and that the soonest they can get me in is next Friday. He told me that they will install the new radio and check out the BCM - I guess they are starting to see there might actually be an issue here.
Sorry for getting off track but I think the back story helps here. Anyhow, does anyone have any experience with this? Or is the fuel pump a common issue with RAM?
Lastly, everything except for the most recent code has happened before 36,000 miles and has been covered under warranty. If the P0463 code was caused from the BCM, I would think this would be covered under warranty still since I took my truck in for the BCM malfunctioning before 36,000 miles. If it is a faulty fuel pump, would that be covered under the powertrain? I really don't think a fuel pump should go in a 2 year old truck with only 37,000 miles on it. If they do, then I think I shouldn't have left the blue oval family.
Any feedback is appreciated.
