2014 5.7 6spd to 6.4 8spd swap.

Okay guys, I have a 2014 ram factory equipped with a 5.7 and 6 speed tans. I picked up a 2020 charger 6.4 with the zf8 complete pullout ready to install. I know I will need to swap accessories, oil pan. I have a harness from a 2015 ram with the 6.4 and zf8 and I can get that PCM if needed also. Issue I am having is the shifter, the truck is factory equipped with the shifter on the column. I do not have the plug in the dash for the electronic shifter. Do I need an entire dash harness, is there an adapter harness, should I just make a harness? Has anyone done this swap?

Figured I would throw together a brief list of info for swapping in the 8hp70 in early 4th gens… I couldn’t find a lot of this out there so some was trial by fire and then leaning on others (thanks to Alex LaBrash), as they were the biggest help. The process would be similar in earlier models...

Yeah I looked through those threads and didn't see anything about the shifter harness. All of about 5,000 pages. Looks like they're all running a standalone controller which is not necessary. The factory PCM from 2014 have does not have the zf8 transmission as an option when I looked at it with HP tuners. The transmission is already equipped with a TCM.

Not sure if you got your answer but I know of two options for the harness, 68429697AA 8 speed connector, or connector experts.com CETA1170.
I’m in the middle of doing the same swap on my 2014 and I’m stuck on the PCM, does hptuners have the capability to unlock the 8hp70 file or do I have to buy a new pcm?

The 2014 Ram's had a ZF8 speed but if you are pulling it all from a car I am not sure. I was thinking that it was 2015 that they added the 8 speed to the Hemi's in the cars.

For V8's yes, but the 12-14 3.6's had the 8sp.

Hi, just checking in to see if you had any luck. I put in an engine and transmission from a 2020 and stuck on the shifter cable as well, mine had the 6 speed column shift. Thinking I might have to get the harness behind the dash. I have installed the pcm that came with 2020 drivetrain, is there anything else that needs to be changed or programmed?
