Last night, I was able to get the 8sp out to test the new driveshaft from DSS. I am happy to say that the prototype unit held up, and I even stayed in the throttle to 118mph after crossing the traps just to verify that it would hold up. We do need to make a few minor changes to the driveshaft itself, so i will be calling DSS about that on Monday. I'm hoping that these will be available at the first of January. We also ran a new best of 12.41 @ 109.44MPH. Truck still has quite a bit more in it, but at least we are moving in the right direction.

Sweet!

Congrats, Matt. I know you have been working hard to get this truck down the 1/4 mile quickly.

They told me the truck is not capable of going fast enough to break the carbon fiber unit, so I think we are good to go.

They might be right, but for me, maybe just cause I'm an old guy, I think I still want a set of drive shaft loops for racing, just because. If they were good enough in the 60's when I raced, they should be nowadays too.

Congrats! Awesome run. Can you give us some insight on how you got her down to 4600? I weighed my bone stock tradesman 2dr at 4920. I don't know how the hell I'll get 300lbs out of it! Well I did have a full tank of gas so maybe 60 pounds will be pretty easy lol..thanks for any advice!

Full tank of gas weighs around 140 lbs
Spare is 67 lbs
Tailgate is around 60 lbs I believe
Front sway bar is 22 lbs
Center console is 20 lbs
Passenger seat is around 60 lbs

Thats around 350 lbs you could drop by removing those items & running on a tank of gas that isnt topped off. For every 100 lbs you remove is about a tenth of a second gain in the 1/4 mile so you can get as much as 3 tenths out of doing this IF you have traction

Just like Gary said...I removed the tailgate, spare tire, passenger seat, center console, front swaybar, and had 1/4 tank of gas. I weigh about 215lbs as well.

My 2014 weighed in at 4,790 lb with me in it, but I weigh 250 lb and I had a mostly full tank of gas. I also didn't pull my center console and the truck is a R/T so the hood, lights, and a few other things weigh more.
