A lot of people can't afford the time or money to swap in a Hemi (like me) and I have no problem keeping my 4.7. But now it's rebuild time with over 250k+ miles on him, he's wearing down. I just picked up a 4.7 for $250 just to rebuild so, I have some questions for it.

1. Nowhere have I found a new Intake, all searches result in a used one or the show a 5.7 Intake. Does anyone have any leads on getting a brand new/un-used Intake for a 2002-2004 Intake?
2. Are there any upgrades I can do while the engine is torn down to the block that will not require me trying to find someone to reprogram the PCU/ECU, unless someone knows a person that will do reprogramming?
3. What do I need to lookout for that could be a problem later or that can mistakenly be missed while putting it back together?

I know that I will have questions during this build & I won't be starting the teardown for at least another month, got my son's 4.6L Mustang engine to rebuild first. Thank you to anyone taking the time to read this.

1. Get a 2008 intake; yes you'll need a throttle body adapter (the 08+ was fly-by-wire) but it's a better intake, especially if you decide to upgrade cams.
2. 2008+ cams. There is a plethora of tuning options. Supercharged 2002 4.7's get custom tuned; I imagine your swill be a snap in comparison.

Thanks for the reply, when doing a search for the adapter, what words should I use besides Throttle Body Adapter? 2002 Adapter? Intake is expensive, I wasn't expecting that high, wow!

Now to search for cams

Camshafts are priced fairly cheap on Rockauto.

Alright, silly question time, are the blocks the same, 02 & 08 4.7? Actually, are there any identifying numbers on the block so I can see what year block I just bought. All I was told when I got it that it was a 02 4.7 but I want to make sure.

And I just saw that the camshafts listed on Rockauto were the same part numbers as the 2002, so they are not the ones that I need.

https://airram.com/ for 4.7 performance. Adapter: https://airram.com/product/4-7l-thr...l-conversion-to-08-up-intake-manifold-tba001/
1159 and 1160 are the 2002 p/n's, you want these (which Rockauto used to carry but are out of stock):

After posting about looking for the adapter, I found it before going to work & hadn't been back on this site to update the discovery. I figured those cam shafts were the ones you were talking about when I saw that they are out of stock. Which is par for the course when I start looking for things to buy.

So, I did a search for the original part numbers 53021983AA & 1984AA a Seller on Amazon has them listed for the 02-07, are they correct?

But some other sites list them for the 08 but for the Flex Engine. There is confusion starters when looking up these camshafts.

So now the question turns into Do I need to switch to the 08 Cylinder Heads for the intake to fit?

Sigh....no one reads anymore. Go back and look up the intake on the airram site.

I had read it, I must have read somewhere that I needed to. I thought it was on that sight.

They do offer a lot of items for the 4.7, which is nice. But looking on there I have to ask, with the 4.7 that I bought, is there a visual difference between the JTEC & NGC Engines on the outside that I can easily see?

I'm not aware of external differences between the two blocks. The timing cover gasket is a nice, thick, one-piece type on the JTEC. The NGC was just a tube of silicone, I believe. Not sure why, except cost, maybe.

Since the timing sets are different, you might want to make sure that the cam/crank sensors are right for whichever engine you are going to use.
